Video capture on secondary screen?
Would it be possible to accommodate video (screencast) capture on secondary screen? Right now it only supports capturing what is on my laptop screen and not my secondary screen.

If you'd like to record from a second screen, go to layout part of your screen preferences and move the tool-bar strip from the top of your current primary screen to the top of your current secondary screen. This will turn your secondary screen into your primary screen and you should now be able to record from that.

Inappropriate? It's an interesting idea Nick. We didn't include support for secondary screens at this stage as we felt that it was a fairly niche scenario, but we'll vertainly consider it for a future release.

Inappropriate?Good point, I just worry about people who need to test software with, say, designers or architects who typically use two screens. When I worked at Intel I didn't meet a single programmer that had less than 2 screens. Skinny corp I think doesn't have programmers with less than 3 screens :P
I’m ok with the responce

Inappropriate?Unfortunately there is a technical limitation on screencapture size due to the OS, so we can't capture activity on both screens at once. However I believe if you have two screens Silverback will capture the activity on the screen that currently holds the preferences pane.

Inappropriate?Good point Andy. I suppose if the larger screen was the primary screen they could just move the preferences pane/dock over to that screen for the test.

Inappropriate? So I can record a second screen if I move Sliverbacks preferences pane to that screen?
I’m confused
-
I believe that is the case. At least those are the reports we've been getting. However none of us here have second screens so we can't check :-( -
Inappropriate?I just checked this and had the preference pane on my secondary screen, unfortunately it recorded my activities from my laptop screen - gutting!

Inappropriate?Would love a response from the Silverback guys on this - basically if you move the app and preference pane to the secondary screen (I'm using it with my MacBook) it still records my primary laptop screen :-(
Is there any developments on this or even workarounds? You stated previously (6 months ago) this is being considered in a future release - any timescales on this please?
Thanks in advance for your time. -
Hey DK. I have to admit that we haven't extensively tested on multiple screens as it's fairly unusual for people to use multiple screens when running a usability test. This is because people usually try to mirror the normal browsing habits of their users when testing and it's rare for people to use multiple screens. In this situation I'm guessing that you're probably just using your MacBook to run the test but are letting your subjects use a bigger screen to mimic a desktop environment. Would I be correct?
I can't say for certain as I don't have access to a second screen at the moment. However have you tried turning your secondary screen to your primary screen. I believe you do this by tearing the toolbar off your main screen in the layout settings panel and dropping it onto your other screen. -
Inappropriate? Many thanks for the prompt response Andy and I just tried out your suggestion to much success - thank you again and hopefully other people will now be able to record from their secondary screen :-)
I’m elated!
