What should happen if there isn't enough disk space? How do I resume?
Silverlight was going into the fourth hour, rendering a 90 minute file. Just as it was completing the export, an error arose in Silverlight stating that I needed to find more disk space, despite Finder saying I had 11Gig.
I deleted 5 gigs of files, then Clicked OK in Silverlight. Instead of completing the export Silverlight just stopped. I looked in the target folder chosen to save the file, but nothing was there.
I ran the Terminal command to clean up the garbage, but no further file space was recovered. What happened to 10 Gigs? Why do I have to restart the render and not continue?
Despite loving the idea of Silverlight and the user interface, the Export function is proving to be problematic. I have had so many problems that it's now been two days and all I have managed to do is export 3 hours of sessions, due to frozen Export sessions.
I have the latest version of Silverlight.
I have just restarted and 10 meg has mysteriously reappeared.

Inappropriate?Unfortunately video encoding is quite processor intensive, so three to four times the duration of the movie is actually quite good, and better than many of the tools on the market. That being said we are doing our best to speed up the process, within the limits of the hardware and the underlying quicktime technology.
The Apple finder tends not to refresh the disk space as often as it should, so it's likely that you actually had much less disk space than the GUI was reporting. It's completely logical for you to have made extra disk space then tried to continue exporting the file and is admittedly a behaviour we didn't foresee. So we'll try to make sure that behaviour is supported in the next point release.
To help conserve disk space Silverback cleans up temporary files on relaunch, which is why you got the disk space back then, rather than when the OS runs it's cleanup scripts during the evening or on reboot.
Sorry to hear you've been experiencing freezes and/or crashes. If you can send me (andy@clearleft.com) your log files we'll try to see what's happening on your machine and roll out a fix asap. -
Inappropriate?Just to let you know that I've added this as a ticket and hope to include this functionality in the next point release.
