Possible to disable auto-restart of Apache?
Does VirtualHostX automatically restart the WebSharing in the Sharing Settings panel? Is there a way to stop it doing this? Because if we have XAMPP installed, then we're running our own Apache and PHP etc and whenever i save a change to VirtualHostX, it starts up the WebSharing and none of the sites work because the OS X Apache is taking over

Inappropriate? You're right. VirtualHostX is restarting Web Sharing automatically. There's no setting to turn this off (yet), but there is a trick you can do to stop it.
When you save your changes, VHX looks to see if MAMP is installed, and if so, *doesn't* restart Web Sharing since it assumes you're not using it. To simulate this (if you're using XAMPP or another server), just create this file:
/Applications/MAMP/conf/apache/httpd.conf
You don't need to put anything in it - it just needs to exist.
VirtualHostX will see this, think you have MAMP installed, and not restart Web Sharing.
It's a stupid hack, but it works. Hopefully this will tide you over until I add in XAMPP support or supply a preference to disable restarting Web Sharing.

Inappropriate?VHX 2.0 now has support for MAMP and XAMPP, which should solve this problem.
