Sparrow on iPhone 3G not updating Twitter Profile Location
I am using Sparrow on my iPhone 3G. Sparrow is correctly identifying my location and updating Fire Eagle but fails to update my location in the location field on Twitter. This is why I bought this App from the store and it is no longer working as promised. Please fix.

Aha! I just figured out the problem.
Twitter limits your location to 30 characters max. If the location Sparrow detects has more than 30 letters (including spaces), the Twitter update will fail. For example, Fire Eagle currently detects my location to be:
"5301 Stevens Creek Blvd, Santa Clara, CA"
That's too many letters and Twitter rejects the location. BUT, if I change my Fire Eagle privacy settings to only let Sparrow access my location at the city level it sees me as
"Santa Clara, California"
and Twitter accepts the update.
So, until I can figure out some sort of work-around (any suggestions?), you can change your Fire Eagle settings to a higher level, which will usually have fewer characters and thus make it past Twitter's limit.
Note: this won't decrease the accuracy that Sparrow pinpoints you at. It will still update Fire Eagle with your exact GPS coordinates, it's just that your Twitter location will be a broader, more general area such as your city instead of your street address.

Inappropriate?Hi. Two quick questions to help me fix your problem...
1) Have you ever been able to update your Twitter location using Sparrow? Did it work before, then stop recently?
2) Does it update your Twitter location if you manually enter your location into Sparrow? (versus using iPhone's GPS to locate you) -
Hi Tyler
Thanks for the quick reply.
Answers to your questions:
1. Yes.
2. Yes Twitter location is updated if I manually enter my location. Note that as mentioned before there is no problem with Sparrow locating me correctly, it just does not update that location to Twitter. Yes you are correct if I enter a manual location then no problem.
Look forward to getting the GPS location updated to Twitter. -

That's right, previous updates were shorter. That's the issue. Thanks for the proposed solution too.
