VHX just randomly working. Still connects to the net
ok. guess i set up everything the correct way. VHX works great for one of my wordpress projects in combination with MAMP. everything bon.
but when i set up a second project the same way, my browser still connects to the real website. but if i do a direct call to localhost i get the website.. but well.. thats just not the idea. can someone give me a hint?
i tried manually switching on/off web sharing, restarting mamp after each change in VHX and i was checking all the files VHX edits. all seems correct. i just don't get this one site working.
another thing i'm wondering about is, why is VHX more or less randomly asking for my system pwd after i made changes? isn't it supposed to ask every time?

Inappropriate?If I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like you're trying to override a real domain name. Rather than doing that, you should use fake names in VirtualHostX. For example:
My website is clickontyler.com. But when I test it locally using VirtualHostX, I use clickontyler.site
I've seen other people use a .dev or .web convention, too. In truth, it doesn't matter what you use, but it's best to pick a name that isn't real.
Regarding the password prompt, that is handled by OS X. If you've recently authenticated, you may not need to type in your password a second time. -

Since i'm developing with wordpress i always used the existing domain names (wp is hardcoding the uri in the database - so i use real domainnames for easier going live) and it was never a problem. i also tried to change the domain name to something else. it just won't work..
i mean.. it's just strange that i can reach my domain via localhost but not via the domainname in VHX
