Interested in FreeBSD packages/ports support
Lots of computation and storage capacity under FreeBSD would benefit from some support.
I would like to at least see a forum started where FreeBSD implementors could compare notes!

Inappropriate?Hi Royce,
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll talk to the guys about FreeBSD packaging.
Does the Hadoop user list not suffice for FreeBSD communication? Are you requesting that you'd like to see a GetSatisfaction forum just for FreeBSD? I'm just trying to get a better idea :).

Hi, Alex -
Sorry for the delay in replying. I will get a feel for the user list for FreeBSD activity. From the lack of Hadoop-on-FreeBSD discussion that I found on the Internet generally, I assumed that the list was the same. I'll do some more homework. Thanks for the reply! -
Inappropriate?Hi all -
I wanted to revive this thread to see if there has been any further consideration of FreeBSD support from Cloudera. We have a filesystem running atop FreeBSD and would like to take advantage of spare CPU cycles to run analytics. I've heard similar aspirations from HPC/compute farm users running Free BSD to.
Thanks,
Mark
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Hi Mark,
FreeBSD packages aren't on our roadmap still, but our source (tarball) distribution should run in BSD: http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh/
I'm sorry I don't have better news, but please let us know if you have any issues with the tarball.
Thanks,
Alex
