Running apt-get update fails on Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty
What is Cloudera's policy for packaging Hadoop for Ubuntu? I tried following the instructions here http://www.cloudera.com/hadoop-ubuntu but I get an error while trying to run the apt-get update. After looking at http://archive.cloudera.com/debian/di... I can see that you don't have any packages for Jaunty. Is this because you're purposefully only supporting LTS releases, or is this just an oversight?

Inappropriate?Hi Michael,
The omission of Jaunty isn't policy - it's just that we've been in the process of moving to a new release structure and haven't updated the current distribution to have a directory for jaunty. It hasn't been a high priority since, as you suggested, most people running Hadoop prefer to run on LTS or at least a "one behind" release for stability and security. The packages for intrepid, however, work just fine - simply edit your sources.list file and replace "jaunty" with "intrepid".
Thanks

Inappropriate?Hey Todd,
Thanks for the quick reply. I don't know too terribly much about the inner workings of the apt system, so I never would have thought to try changing the release tag. I'll give that a shot.
Thanks again,
Mike
