The best point from the company

Hadoop Fans, we're happy to announce support for HBase in our testing branch. A big thanks to Andrew Purtell and the HBase team: http://bit.ly/42Wl5q

Inappropriate?Robert, thanks for the suggestion. This is definitely on the list.
We might be able to include HBase sooner if we relaxed our stability requirements. Do you think it's still valuable to have HBase in RPM form so you can depend on Hadoop even if HBase isn't as stable?
Is it too ghetto to have a set of -devel RPMs for projects in this position? -
We will definitely consider using the Hadoop RPMs before HBase rpms are available. We have to do it seperately today anyway. Its just I'm looking for even less work for myself :-)
And nothing wrong with -devel RPMs
We're mainly deploying on Amazon EC2 so anything to help there would be also appreciated -

Inappropriate?Hey Robert and others, quick question.
Have any of you tried using HBase with our Distro yet? Would be really helpful to have some offline chatter about how things might work together.
Feel free to reply here or hit up my first name at cloudera dot com. -
Inappropriate?A key part of our infrastructure relies on HBase -- having it supported by Cloudera would be a wonderful thing for us :)
I’m intrigued

Inappropriate?Haven't had a chance to try it since it doesn't quite fit into our current style / image (ubuntu and a custom EC2 image) we are using right now, but hopefully we'll be redoing much of that soon and can try using the Cloudera if there are Ubuntu apt packages.
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Update: We are working with the hbase team on packaging. We will have RPMs before Ubuntu/Debian packages.
-
Inappropriate?Well if you had an integrated hadoop/hbase RPM package that made it easy to deploy a scalable HBase cluster I would switch to whatever *nix platform you said was easiest to use.
-
Inappropriate?Oh and it would great if it also supported the new work with EBS and EBS could be used as a backing store of HBase!
(I mean while I'm asking for stuff :-) -
Inappropriate? We would really appreciate if you could show some rpm or deb, even in alpha or beta release. Just so we can see progress, and start to make plans. :) :)
-
Inappropriate? We are using hbase in our company. Would really love to have support from cloudera and also like to see hbase to be more mainstream.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Which version of Hbase does the cloudera supports? 0.18.1? 0.19 ? 0.20
Thanks for the help -
Inappropriate? We're working with the hbase team and hope to release compatible versions of cloudera + hbase for hadoop 0.20 and hbase 0.20. Stay tuned for more details. We hear you and are working hard to do this right (as opposed to quick and dirty).
-
Inappropriate? An Cloudera dist of HBase + Hadoop would be awesome
A Cloudera AMI of HBase + Hadoop that utilizes EBS would be fantasmical
I’m excited

were these hbase packages pulled recently? I can't find them. -
-
I see the RPMs. Are there any apt packages? -
There are not currently any deb packages. The HBase team is working on debian packaging but there is no date for when this work will be complete.
