Ubuntu support?
Can the Cloudera Hadoop distribution work on Ubuntu and if so are there any different steps to do it?

Inappropriate?Suhail, we'll be releasing packages for other platforms in the future. We've noticed most people running Hadoop on Red Hat, so that's why we have RPMs first.
As we get feedback from users, we'll use that to determine what comes next.
If you know others that want to see .debs, please ask them to indicate they have this issue as well on get satisfaction.

Joking aside, it is *much* closer than it was when this idea was raised. It's the first major update we'll release. -

Inappropriate?It seems to me that the next step for Ubuntu/Debian support would be a .deb download from the Configurator.
(Aside from more encouragement for the Hbase team's .deb releases)
