Socially strengthen the algorithm
It would be helpful to be able to negatively rate sources and stories. If something doesn't apply to me, I don't want to see it in my feed.

Thanks for the feedback! Totally agree with you, both of these are important.
Right now, Parse.ly interprets the deletion of an article to be a kind of "downvote". (Starring / sharing are upvotes.) However, we have gotten feedback that it would be better if this were more explicit, e.g. "don't like this" or "this is boring" buttons. We're debating this on the team and currently experimenting with different feedback mechanisms.
Blacklisting and whitelisting sources is also a common request, and a good one. We are actually working on a feature right now that is related. We call it "content channels" internally; it will allow better control of what sources you see in your Parse.ly feed.
