Good idea, not so good implementation. Could use some work.

Combo seems to be a little bit less than what I thought it would be. It seems that it only reads from these sites, and doesn't post to them. With the exception of facebook and media sites, I haven't been able to post to any site. Wordpress only works with the wordpress.org hosted blogs, despite the fact that not everyone uses that, many wordpress owners use their own webhost.

It seems that it needs quite a bit of work before it can be released into public beta, at least in my eyes. It doesn't seem to make full use of all of the APIs, and it doesn't seem to update everything that I've signed up for. It also seems to have problems updating things that it doesn't need a password for, claiming the "RSS feed is not available". I think it could be an awesome service, if it gets quite a bit of work.

Of course, I could have just missed it. If I just missed it, than the layout needs a bit of work. But that's not quite as bad ^_^

sad I’m a little frustrated

Spencer - thanks for the feedback. Totally agree with you that it needs work, (we're definitely an early private beta and not trying to present ourselves as anything else!)

Right now, the publishing features are limited to uploading photos + videos to a few sites and updating status msgs. Within a month (roughly), that will be expanded to include posting to blogs. We'll also have a number of more services linked up to the photo/video/status msg updates...

RSS is getting a major overhaul next week - essentially, we need to create a distinction between the RSS feeds you want to follow, and the RSS feeds from services that you author/own.

There are a few other features that will be added very soon as well, hopefully that will make things feel a bit more pulled together.

What specific "push" syncs / sites would you like to see added? Let us know!

    silly I’m working on it

Well I'm glad to have a quick reply, that's a good sign ^_^

I don't know what you mean by "push", but I do know there are 2 more sites I would like to see, personally: Google Bookmarks, and Google Calendar. I don't know how good the APIs are for them, or if they even have them.

Like I said earlier, the wordpress one really made me sad. I have a blog that's powered by wordpress, but it's not on wordpress.org, it's on my own personal server. I know that they can be connected to though, as I have used scribefire with my blog without problems. And going along with the blogs, even though it doesn't apply to me, I'm a little surprised not to see blogger or other types of blogs listed.

I'm really glad to hear about the RSS feeds, I'm missing one or two things because the RSS implementation doesn't work completely right. I can't get my google Reader things and I can't get my Picasa things. I think that's it, but I'm not totally sure.

If you need any help, I'll be glad to do what I can. I'm a little busy lately, but I'm always willing to help out a good beta get up and at'em.

happy I’m Glad to see people working on it!

Thanks, we need private beta users such as yourself to get this thing into shape!

As for blogging / publishing features, it is on the list of features to be included in the public beta version of Combo, the timeline for which is the about 2-3 months. We will include the ability to sync your wordpress, blogger and others, as well as they ability to post new blog entries and add content that you have in your collection to your blog entries. At that point, some of the meta features of Combo will really click - you'll be able to see something in your Watchbox, favorite it, add it to a blog posting and tell your friends about the blog posting, all from one interface.

I'll let you know when we upgrade the RSS services - much needed - it should be this coming week.

happy I’m happy if you're happy
