Can I get a Static IP with Comcast Internet?
Can I get a static ip with comcast internet. I'm looking to switch to comcast internet but I can't get a straight answer from comcast on whether they offer static IP to residential customers? ps, I don't want or need a business account, just a static IP. Thanks.

Static IP's are only given to business accounts; all residential online service accounts have dynamic IP's.

Inappropriate?At this time static IPs are only available for business accounts. Is there a reason you are not interested in a business account? What is the purpose of needing a static IP, there may be alternatives.

Hi Frank, thanks for your response. I currently have ATT residential phone and Internet service. I would like to subscribe to the Comcast Triple Play for two reasons, to save money and to get a faster broadband connection than I am currently getting from ATT. I have a need to access some devices in my home via static IP (this is for my use only and does not generate much throughput). The scenario I expected was I could switch to Comcast change my Static IP to a new Static IP and all is well making for an easy, seamless transition unfortunately this does not seem possible based on Comcast policies. -
Inappropriate?We would require a business account for static IP but there are services available on the internet that would make it possible even with a dynamic IP.
