Comcast Cablecard Training Required
Cablecard Configuration
In July I started the order process for Cablecards for my Tivo, I have been a happy Comcast customer for about 7 years, until now.
After 4 failed delivery attempts for my cablecards (with days off) I escalated via an email address found on this forum and had a tech deliver an M-Card yesterday.
The tech left before checking all the channels, I found that only the channles that have no form of DRM worked. That would be local channels, both regular and high def.
I called tech support 3 times, no one had a clue, I spoke to my contact who had helped get the tech to site and she also was lost.
I have done some reading on this and found that CableCard to work with all my subscribed channels it needs to be PAIRED. The current status screen shows that the card is not paired.
I am sure Comcast needs my
- Cablecard serial number,
- HostID
- Data
- UnitAddress.
So far I have only been asked for serial number and UnitAddress, which seem to be correct.
Is there someone at comcast who understands how to setup cablecards?

Inappropriate?Almost nobody at Comcast understands a cable card. The best you can do is get someone to fill out a form, or send a text message to the top secret tech locked in a vault under a mountain. If and when this tech gets all the correct information, he may get your cablecard paired to your device. Good luck!

Inappropriate?I have the answer thanks to forums to fix my Motorola M-Card issue with Comcast, but all they want to do is blame TiVo or have a Tech come out. I have read enough horror stories to also know the tech isn't going to help much either. I just need someone with a lick of sense at Comcast to send another INIT hit notification and my problem would most likely be solved.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and having the exact same issues. No connection with the head end system at comcast. I read a comment that makes some sense. Trying to pair behind an already connected box is unsuccesful. Try to get Comcast to disconnect boxes that are authorized at your address and put the cards ahead and re-authorize the boxes. To date I've been on the phone with them 5 times and had 2 service calls with techs that have tried the same things I was doing with 3 different cards with no success. They are leaving it open for me to give up and go with their DVR. There is just no enough Gross Profit for Comcast to have any desire to make the inexpensive cards work.

Inappropriate?Frank from this forum and another chat rep supposedly sent out another init hit that was supposed to fix the problem based on all I have read on various forums, but to no avail. I also had the chat rep (who was very helpful) go through anothe process I had read on a forum about re-entering all the Card ID, Host ID, and Data ID info into their system and then sending a new init signal. That also didn't work...so now I am frustrated and worried since the solution that fixed many people's similar issues didn't fix mine.
I have a tech coming this afternoon and I am praying very hard that they are not complete idiots or just unhelpful (which is normally the case).
I’m worried, anxious, frustrated
