Comcast is the absolute worst company on record, they nearly killed my son
Comcast is the worst company I've ever dealth with. We have been having the same problem for 45 days. The signal coming from the pole is over 50, this apparently knocks out our Comcast on demand cable, our internet and our telephone. We have had no less than 10 techs out to the house over the last 30 days. For the last eight days straight we have had no on demand cable, no internet and no telphone. I have called Comast for each of the last eight days. Each time I am told that an "immediate action form" is being filled out. Each time I give then contact information, at no time in the last eight days I have been contacted. I was also told 2 days ago that this problem was being referred to the internal consumer advocacy group. Maybe at some point they will contact me or be able to intervene on my behalf. You do not realize just how serious being without a phone is until you have a child of your s begin throwing up blood in front of you and you need 911. Thank God for Verizon and cell phones, my son was admitted in very bad shape, I would hate to think what could have happened if all I had to rely on was Comcast phone service. If you love your family find a more relable and responsive company for your utilities.

Inappropriate?OK, Comcast is awful but they did not almost kill your son. If you want help, try to lay off the ridiculous accusations.

When a medical emergency happens at your house what do you reach for? A phone perhaps. May you one day experience first hand my siutation with a child of yours and then you might have another view of Comcast. In a medical emergency EVERY SECOND COUNTS, a non working phone is very problamatic in that situation and TAKES AWAY VALUABLE SECONDS. I stand firmly by my statement. -
Inappropriate?Yes, a phone is important but it is ignorant not to have a backup plan. And you did have a backup so I don't understand how you can stand by your statement saying "they nearly killed my son."
My household has a VOIP line with Vonage and we would not blame Vonage if the service was down and we had a medical emergency. We have several cell phones as our backup plan. You should know what you are getting into when you are getting VOIP; it can only be as reliable as the internet connection and for Comcast, that's not reliable at all.
Once again, you should lay off the ridiculous accusations if you want help. -
Inappropriate?Comcast may suck, but you are responsible for you own children's lives. I tell everyone NOT to use VoIP and sick with a reguar land line. Why? They don't go out when the internet is down or the power goes out, and they can be used to call 911 if you do not currently have service.
Relying on a phone that utilizes the internet is stupid. The old hard-wired phones are your best bet in case of medical emergencies. Having a cell phone is okay but even their service can be crappy when you need it the most.
Don't blame Comcast. Blame yourself for not fully researching the pro and cons. Yes, they should provide a good service, but look at who you are dealing with. Maybe you should consider a different phone service. -
Inappropriate?Linda,
I know that no apology could ever make up for the horrible experience you've had. I have children as well, so I know how important it is for your phone to work in an emergancy situation. We would like to locate the cause of the intermittency to try to prevent this from happining again. Can you email me your address and contact information?

Inappropriate?Echoing HolyCannoli's comments from above. I will NEVER subscribe to VOIP phone service. As stated, if your power OR your internet connection is down, then you are in deep s**t. That is too much of a chance to take in an emergency situation. Cell phones can be good backups, but a hardwired landline (with a wired telephone, not cordless) is absolutely the most reliable means of communication in case of a disaster.
