Comcast Pixelation issues (again).
Pixelation is back on HD channels. I have had an ongoing issue with Comcast, and it is now a problem again. Please reference "The worst company I have ever dealt with" for history.
This is my final straw. Fix it, or I will cancel. I will also make sure that everyone knows that Comcast does not care about quality.
Please fix this immediately.

The most common cause of this is the DVR needing to be rebooted. Even when you power off a DVR it is still on in sleep mode. Just like a computer every once in a while it is good to give it a hard reboot. This is done by unplugging it and plugging it back in. If you do this and continue to have trouble we can send a signal or sent a tech out. This is the proper way to correct this trouble. The reason the box does not automatically reboot once in a while is so it does not interfere with TV watching or recording. I hope this information helps.
Thank you!

Inappropriate?ok; i tried their stated solution: unplugged the system for about 15 minutes, which didn't work at all. we have tried to call them, and cannot get through their monstrous phone mail chain, we have tried to email but they demand we use a "comcast" email which apparently they gave us when we bought internet, but which we have no idea what our email address etc is, and we tried live chat, which had a 70 minute wait, and then timed out on us. comcast; we hate you.
I’m frustrated angy and fed up.

Inappropriate?People are using YouTube to post their frustrating experiences with Bank of America regarding credit card rate hikes; why not make a video of the issues you're having and post them to YouTube? It might get someone's attention.
My earlier problem was caused (as is ALL pixelation/tiling/etc) by noise introduced in the cable lines and the line signal becoming unbalanced. The ONLY way to get the issue fixed is to have a supervisor schedule a QUALIFIED line tech (above a level 3 tech; NOT an installation tech). The supervisor gives you a number to call when the problem is occurring and the line tech comes out right then. Unfortunately, getting a line tech scheduled by a supervisor is the big problem. Comcast just won't let us talk up the chain to a supervisor.
The only way I've found to get this problem kicked up the line are two fold:
1: your neighbors have the same problem and you keep in touch with the neighbors during the pixelation, etc. so that you both/all call at the same time because Comcast only sees patterns, not isolated incidents.
2: you call Comcast EVERY time this occurs so that you have all the calls noted and then the problem gets attention from supervisors.
Also, write a letter to the Comcast CEO. It's worked for me... and do the YouTube thing. -
Inappropriate?I haven't had cable TV in 6 years. My boyfriend convinced me to let us get it. Now, I can't watch a single thing because of pixelation, freezes, muting. It is SO irritating I want to cancel. Who would stand this? It is an every day, multi HD channel problem.

Inappropriate?Three of my HD channels have pixelation. I tried rebooting the DVR, and it made it a little bit better. Although, there is still pixels flashing across the screen while I am trying to watch football.

Still no getting what we are being sold and that is simply bad business.

Inappropriate?I have horrible pixelation as well. I have tested several things and am now 100% convinced that my problems are caused by AT&T cell phones sending/receiving text messages or polling for service. This is completely testable and repeatable. So following the advice of Comcast tech support, I took my old box down to the local Comcast store to get a newer one. They told me that it wouldn't make any difference and I just needed to wait until AT&T stopped interfering with *Comcast's* frequencies. Then she proceeded to trade my old box for a different old box. I called tech support again and they once again told me that I should try a newer box. They suggest the DCX3400 but couldn't tell me if any of the local stores had it. I am supposed to randomly go to each store and ask if they will trade my old box for the DCX3400. I can't decide which company I hate more AT&T or Comcast!
I’m not supported...

Inappropriate?I just had a tech (Comcast contrator) come out to install HD and a DVR box (Scientific Atlantic I beleive) on 11-18-09. He did the best he could and I thought he resolved the pixelation problem before he left. He didn't.
I am only having the problem on the TV (a 4 day old Samsung 40" 1080p 120 hz) that the HD DVR box is conected to. the other TV's (all non-HD) are connected direclty to the wall.
I'm going to exchange the box for another and see what happens.

Inappropriate?Found this forum after doing a keyword search for pixilation and cable tv. I am on Charter cable and my tv in the bedroom is connected to an HD TiVo. My husband has a tv in the living room connected to a Charter HD cable box. Most of the time I get more pixilation with the TiVo/bedroom HD TV than my husband gets in the living room on his HD TV. Last night we both were getting lots of pixilation. I had a Charter guy come out a week ago but everything was fine when he got here so he didn't try and figure out what the problem might be. It comes and goes and is driving me nuts. Our last cable bill was $150 and I am getting lousy TV images!

I'm no technician, but my guess is you are getting a weak signal from the provider into your house, which is a problem probably compounded by having it split between two sets. Could also be the Charter HD box is more tolerant of weak signals than the TiVo one. Have you tried disconnecting the Charter box and checking if this improves the reception with the Tivo?
Fortunately for us we get good over-the-air reception of local channels and don't watch much that is exclusively on cable, save for an exceptionally good series like Madmen, so we cancelled our cable subscription and will rent whatever when it becomes available on DVD. -
Inappropriate?A Charter technician came out yesterday and tightened all the loose connections, replaced a rusty fitting somewhere outside and so on. The problem is--while he was here, the TV was working great and my internet was fast. Later, I got some tiling on the TV in the bedroom again. This morning my internet was so slow it was almost stopped for a couple of hours. As for removing the cable box to test the reception of the TiVo--we have only had the cable box for about a month and I was getting some pixilation and tiling off and on before that. I'll be calling Charter again, but will do it when I have time. It takes so long. I probably should get an antenna and just switch between cable and antenna.

Inappropriate?sounds like your cabling is bad as well
