DTA box and Media Center/PC compatability issues.
I use my computer/media center with a dual tuner card as my DVR. Previously, my cable simply went into the tuner in the computer and then went from the computer to the TV. So far, I have not been able to get the DTA box to work with the computer/media center. If I put media center on channel 3, I can change the channels using the DTA (which changes channels annoyingly slowly by the way), but I cannot really use the DVR at the same time and I certainly can't use the dual tuners. I cannot find anything on Comcast's site and of course none of the Comcast reps I've spoken to have been of any help at all. I tried an IR Blaster to the front of the DTA box, but that doesn't seem to have worked either.
At this point, my cable is useless to me. I'm very frustrated and thinking about changing services.

Inappropriate?OMG! I just had to pick up 3 DTA boxes and one is going on my Microsoft Media Center. I just new this was going to be a problem. I'll be watching to see if anyone comes up with a solution.
This may help.

Where do I get this IR blaster?
And I just bought my (exspense) MediaCenter Computer!
I’m frustrated too

Inappropriate?I did see that page, and tried it, but, unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I bought my IR blaster on e-bay - shipping was free. I haven't been able to find how to fix this (Comcast has been totally unhelpful). I did talk to another cable company, and they were promising that they could help me through making it all work together if I switched over to them. If I can't find an answer soon, I'll have to switch. Let me know if the IR Blaster approach works for you.
Thanks

Inappropriate?I found the IR Blaster that came with my HP M9040N. I have the single tuner model. So I am hoping this works for me. Like you, I am sure there is no way one DTA box is going to work for two tuners. Even with two DTAs I don't think you can access each tuner individually by cables. I am going to try this procedure on my system this weekend when I have time to give it some real attention. I notice that my IR blaster plug looks different than the ones you can get on line. Plus my IR blaster plugs directly into the back of my computer. I saw some blasters plug into a small box that then plugs into a USB port. Comcast is useless. They just want you to buy their DVR. Other companies AT&T, Dish, Direct just want to sell their service and will tell you anything to make the sale. I will let you know what happens this weekend.
Good luck.

Inappropriate? The Comcast solution on the FAQ link, does not work for the DTA box for a single Tuner Built in my Sony MCE PC 2005, XP SP3. It is not allowing me to download a guide that works, also it will not allow me to use my MCE PC Remote Control to control the set top box.I cannot use my pc as a DVR with the DTA hooked up it was working up fine without the DTA, but now the DTA is required to properly view my television for many channels. I am experiencing the similar the same issue as David Ybarra when trying to change the channel. My IR Blaster is connected with USB

Inappropriate?Hello Karn, Welcome to our nightmare.
Now I'm having a problem with the DTA remote not being recognized by MC. MC will see that there is a remote but it will not learn the codes. This sounds like the XMP protocol problem that Deckard6 was having. (see the links) It looks like they finally got it to work somehow. We are working with the Pace DC50X DTA box and it does not show up on the list of STB in MC. I'll try the Comcast C1982 IR code set next. Brent@discussions.microsoft.com had some success with that. I am going to keep on this a little at a time. I don't have time to be a computer programmer. I may not have all my MC updates current. I'm going to check that next. Also the DTA seems to have a high failure rate. I saw 2 being returned when I picked mine up. I have a second one. I will swap it out to confirm it's not the DTA box. Process of elimination! Bottom line is this is way to complex. How can Microsoft let this happen to one of their major product lines? In the heart of the silicon valley too. Who did they piss-off at Comcast?
Check these links. Maybe there is something here that will work for you.

More later as I learn.
Good luck.

Inappropriate?Retry the Digitalmedia file link... IT works with taping the IR Blaster IR cable bulb directly to the ir receptor on the PACE DTA Box. Also, make sure that the IR Extender bulb/ ir signal is facing the IR port on the DTA device. Do not use the IR Extender cable provided wiht the PACE Box.
