How Comcast nightmare started for me with their "Ecobill" service
- i enrolled in comcast's autopayment service, and it worked for 4 months. my credit card was charged for the monthly bill.
- then i disconnected the service, confirmed with the agent that they will send me a check for the remaining portion of the service (this is a prepaid service), i did not have any equipment to return because i was using my own modem.
- i was out of the country for the next 6 months.
- they billed me for another $12 and send the bill instead of charging my credit card as usual (autopayment was still active).
- since i did not receive the bill, they added $3 late fee for the following 2 months
- then they gave me to the collection
- collection sent notices to the same address, asking for $150 (they could not describe the difference, i think they need to go over $100 to mess up your credit file)
- i found about it about one year later when my credit application was denied, i called comcast and i paid $18. I asked them to fix this.
- they did not fix it even through i called them 3 more times and they did not keep the promise.
- collection balance still shows $132. when i call eastern account, the collection agency, they told me to call comcast back and ask comcast to send them a verification letter confirming that i do not owe anything to comcast.
- i even contacted comcast with mail, they did nothing.
- this negative item is still in my credit file. fortunately, it does not affect my credit anymore.
- comcast has a bad reputation of worst billing practices. either their systems are not working, or they do such things with bad intention.
- do not trust comcast on any of their words. "Enjoy paperless convenience with our automatic monthly payment process and online billing." is what they say, but it had triggered a nightmare for me.
- fortunately, i will be able to switch to verizon in my new apartment. i hate comcast's monopoly.

Inappropriate?I do want to state that ECOBILL just started being offered less than 6 months ago. So factually this post is incorrect. We would like to look into further for you so please email us.

Comcast -
I enrolled in the autopayment service in early 2006. Comcast might have renamed the service to "EcoBill" in the last 6 months to make it look like more "green", it does not change the fact that this happened, Comcast was responsible for ruining my credit, and did nothing to fix it. Just last month, I had another billing issue with Comcast, this time Comcast resolved it to some degree but not to my complete satisfaction. Comcast is not clear about the fees she it is going to charge, this also adds to the confusion., but when it comes to the time and energy I wasted to resolve such issues, Comcast becomes really expensive. I am a busy person, and I am not rich enough for Comcast's mistakes. -
Inappropriate? The difference is statements continued to be mailed. ECOBILL is a paperless bill not auto-pay. At this time I have not seen an email come through and we would really like to help with this. Please provide us the information so we can assist!

How do you mean that "ECOBill is a paperless bill not auto-pay"? The Comcast site states that users can set up "recurring bank account payments with EcoBill." How is this different from "auto-pay?" This is the page I am referring to (must log-in to an account to view page):

Inappropriate?Ecobill is paperless billing - so no paper is mailed out. This is available with the auto-pay feature. Otherwise with normal auto-pay a paper bill is mailed every month.
I hope that helps.

Inappropriate?Comcast is full of shit!! i used the ECO BILL and the damn thing charged me TWICE!!
comcast ECOBILL took a payment of 80 dollars. Checked my account it states that it took 80 TWICE!!!! i called them they said for me to call my bank my bank reversed the amount. Call back comcast and told them to stop the account they said OK WE WILL STOP THE PAYMENT they noted they would!! come to my account yesterday and it was taking out called comcast SPOKE WITH A SUPERVISOR BY THE NAME OF BECKA EMPLOYEE NUMBER 30813 told me that since i owe them money, THE'Y DONT HAVE TO GIVE IT BACK!. i TOLD HER THAT IT WAS THE MACHINE WHO TOOK THE MONEY OUT TWICE SHE SAID THAT THERE WAS NO WAY OF PROVING THAT THAT WAS THE CASE. I RESPONDED BY TELLING HER THAT IT IS PROOF THAT I CALLED IN AND IT WAS NOTED THAT I SAID THAT COMCAST IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO TAKE OUT MONEY AND AGAIN SHE STATED ON THE RECORD THAT I OWED THEM MONEY AND THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE TO GIVE IT BACK TO ME!!! i spoke with my bank they told me that they could not do anything to help since i owed them money,
I’m pissed off

Inappropriate?I too have had a problem with Comcast and their money grab tactics. I moved from Maryland to Virginia in Feb 09. I told the Maryland office in person in writing to close my account and the VA office to open a new account. Comcast did not close the Maryland account and tried to send me to collections for over $400. I got a credit report notice in April that Comcast had me marked down for not paying for my service in Maryland (bills dated after the termination date on file). I have to take Comcast to small claims and show the judge the dated written notice that I gave Comcast and hope the judge will order Comcast to retract their statments. The moral of the story is don't trust Comcast to do anything but screw you over if you don't cover your ass. Get everything in writing from Comcast and don't trust a word that comes out of their mouths.
I’m frustrated and outraged

Inappropriate?Solution folks! Go to Verizon! We recently had Fios installed last week. It's cheaper, faster internet and really nice tv picture. We took the double bundle (tv Fios and internet) We stayed with Vonage for phone it will be cheaper in the long run that way. We are very happy.
I’m happy to kick Comcast to the curb!

Inappropriate?Yeah I have had a problem as well with comcasts billing system. A few months ago they told me I signed up for ebilling. Well, that is an outright lie. I never sign up for ebilling, I like my bills mailed to me. I explained this and was told everything would be ok and I would start receiving paper bills in the mail. So, the next month I actually got a bill in the mail from Comcast!!! However, my excitement was short lived as I have yet to receive any other bills in the mail from them for at least 3 months now. So I know when I have to pay when my cable gets shut off and I have to pay reconnection fees.
Class Action anyone?

Inappropriate?similar problem here for me, changed bank account information but they charged the old account and i am on the hook for fixing it. no one at comcast could explain how they deducted money from an account they did not have routing or account information for since i had changed it in the system. they only said it could take 2 to 3 business cylces to make a change. I find that hard to believe. I think that taking money from an account i do not have saved on their system in illegal. they did give me a credit for $60 and when i called the bank they said they have a lot of comcast complaints.
I have DISH network coming out this week. bye bye CRIMECAST.
I’m happy to be getting DISH
