Will those of us with Ike-related extended outages (several weeks) receive a credit?
I live in zip code 77581 and, due to Ike, have been informed that we will be without electricity for 4-6 weeks. Is Comcast going to credit the account for those of us who are affected by an extended outage such as this?

Inappropriate? My service with Comcast is more an "out thing" than and "in thing" whether there is a storm are sunny day. On any given day any channel after 100 normally states that it will "return shortly" except shortly never comes. When I call I have never been offered a refund, etc. so I would say that the chances of us getting any credit for the lack of service due to power outage is slim to none.

Inappropriate?I spoke with a Comcast Rep today regarding our business account and asked him about a possible credit due to the power outage at my home. He said to wait until the power/cable is restored, then call and request a credit for the days it was not in service. A credit will be issued, but only upon request. We'll cross our fingers and see what happens...

Inappropriate? One thing that comcast did well for me was issue refunds. The reason you have to wait until service is back is because they want to know the length of time things were out so they can properly pro-rate it. The only complaint I have is that there's no way to flag it in the system to have this done automatically. Once service is back, give them a call and they'll give you a credit for the time it was out.
I never tried it when it was out due to power being out though. It wouldn't suprise me if they said, "Well, power was out for the first 4 days and that's beyond our control. Your cable was out for 9 days. We'll subtract the 4 days power was out and give you a credit for 5 days." However, you could probably argue that you had a generator running to power things and therefore you were affected by cable being out even while power was out.

Inappropriate?I am not taking any chances. I have had power for eight days (only lost for 2 hrs), but no TV, internet or phone. There are other alternatives out there, and they are filling orders (satellite, DSL, uverse).Comcast gets all my equipment back Monday, and hopefully, I can get a credit for the 10 days with no service.

Inappropriate?I was told today that Comcast will "not allow any discounts because they did not cause the hurricane". That's what they think. I'll lead the charge on that class action.
