I have two separate Pro Flickr accounts (one for my personal "snaps" — ie. vacations, holidays, etc. and a second account for my "commercial" work — in my case, wildlife & nature work). I have these separated between two iPhoto libraries (and a third iPhone library for videos, but that's another topic). FlickrExport for iPhoto only remember the last "login" used. I know there's probably not a lot of people with two separate Pro Flickr accounts, but it'd be nice if FlickrExport had the ability to switch between Flickr accounts.
I'm currently geotagging my pictures using HoudahGeo, before importing them into iPhoto.
I've noticed an issue with a few pictures, notably ones taken near the Greenwich Meridian.
After tagging an image, in iPhoto the location shows as
51 deg 30' 13.88 N
0 deg 0' 28.62 W
That looks about right to me, i.e. just to the West of the Meridian, on dry land.
When I go to FlickrExport and check the photo location it shows as
Lat: 51.503857
Lon: 0.007949
That seems to be to the East of the meridian, (in the middle of the Thames!) i.e. it ought to be -0.007949
I suspect this is caused by the EXIF data being put in by HoudahGeo not having a GPSLongitudeRef entry, just a GPSLongitude. There's a Ref entry for altitude but not for Long or Lat. I'll ask them about that.
According to the Exif inspector in Photoshop, the entries are
GPSLatitude 51,30.23
GPSLongitude 0,0.48
However, it would appear that FlickrExport and iPhoto are interpreting the data differently, with iPhoto showing the reading to the West and FE showing it to the East, which is inconsistent.
I'll ask the HoudahGeo folks why they're not giving a GPSLongitudeRef as having that may fix it, but I thought I'd raise that iPhoto and FlickrExport are interpreting the same data differently.
Edited to add: I've just re-run the workflow and HoudahGeo is definitely putting the wrong location in the EXIF, Preview's "locate" shows the wrong location too, and further examination of the EXIF shows an "E" tagged on on the end of the Longitude.
I'm a registered user of FlickrExport 2.0.15 for iPhoto (7.1.3). Will FE preserve my iPhoto keywords? Does it (or Flickr itself) automatically convert these to Flickr tags? Is this facilitated by upgrading to FE 3 beta?
What I'm trying to do must be common, or am I looking at this the wrong way? I think what I want to do is keyword my photos in iPhoto, and not have to duplicate the effort once they get to Flickr. I'm a pro member of Flickr, if that matters.
When I load up FlickrExport, it takes longer and longer to authenticate with Flickr. I think this is because it's downloading all the tags in my Flickr account, which are constantly growing. However, I never use the tag window on FE -- I edit them in iPhoto before I export. I've tried to use the exclude feature, along with every style of regular expression, to hide them all, but it doesn't work. What's the best way to do this, and in the process, speed up the Flickr authentication time?
From iPhoto, FlickrExporter is the default (i.e., last selected) option. With the license expires, a modal panel pops up. On either selection ("ok" or "visit site") the Export panel is dismissed, so I can't access my other Export options at all!
I recently purchased FlickrExport for iPhoto, and think that it is a fantastic tool. One problem I have though is that I like uploading small photos (800 or 1024 pixels on the longest side) to Flickr, but would like to keep the JPEG compression to a minimum. When exporting files from iPhoto directly, it is possible to choose the amount of JPEG compression. However, this is not possible in FlickrExport, and for photos with lots of fine detail, this can be lost when I upload them. Could this option be added to a future version please?
when a insert a photo in my flicker account whit this program and google earth (for geotagging), this photo is not geotagged..
I'm need to locate my photo with the flickr map...
My pictures all appear in landscape orientation on Flickr. This is exporting pictures shot with a Kodak V603 camera and imported into iPhoto 7.1.3 running on a MacBook Pro running Mac OSX 10.5.3. Pictures shot in portrait orientation are automatically sensed by the camera, and correctly displayed by iPhoto, but get rotated back to landscape when I export them to Flickr. Manually rotating them in Flickr is slow and frustrating.
I purchased flickr uploader and installed on my mac when running iLife 06. Then I upgraded to iLife 08 and your uploaded didn't work. HAs this problem been fixed?
I'm pretty certain that FlickrExport does not already have this feature. Sometimes, I am uploading hundreds of photos all at once. But for some reason during the upload, it will get interrupted. As a result, I won't be able to easily tell which photos were successfully uploaded and which ones were not. I would like to have the capability to tag each photo in iPhoto after it is successfully uploaded.
I like to keep the photos I upload to Flickr at a consistent of 500px of the longest side. Last night I uploaded two images — the originals were at DPI of 72 for the first image and 180dpi for the second image. I marked both to be uploaded with the 500px for longest side. For the 72dpi image, this worked. But, for the 180dpi image, it didn't work and uploaded the image at a size larger than 500px (when viewing "all sizes" in Flickr). Does this happen because the original is not 72dpi?
