How about using the GPS/Place data from iPhoto 09?
Would like to see FlickrExport be able to use iPhoto '09's Place data instead of having to grab it from Google Earth all over again, as well as post the geodata back to iPhoto.

Inappropriate?I second this request. Annoying that it doesn't already...

I agree. Unfortunately, iPhoto doesn't give plugins access to location data. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for answering this Fraser. Just like to add my voice to the disappointment, although it's clear you're doing what you can to get around the problem.
I’m slightly disappointed

Inappropriate?Poo you apple... you will become the new windows. You closed platform you!
I’m disapointed

Inappropriate?I see that part of the issue is that when you've designated a place for a picture in iPhoto '09, it doesn't write the information to the file. It only writes the geodata to the file when exporting to a file and you check the option to include Location information. Once you've done that, and also enabled Flickr to read that information in your Account settings online, then the location will appear in Flickr.
Otherwise, you have to use iPhoto's posting to Flickr, which is really syncing the set (if you delete the set from iPhoto, it deletes it from Flickr).
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I have a similar but different problem: I have information data written into the EXIF before import, and iPhoto picks it up and sees it. However, FlickrExport does not. This happens only for edits to raw (saved as TIFs), it seems. Any way around this?

Inappropriate? Will it make any difference if we pile complaints on here about Apple denying location data to plugins? Could ConnectedFlow go to Apple and plead on our behalf? Or should we be grumbling at Apple ourselves? And where would we do that exactly?

Inappropriate?Sending feedback directly to Apple is best. There are two ways:
Casual feedback can go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto....
The best feedback, although it's more work because you need a (free) Apple Developer Connection account, is to go to http://bugreporter.apple.com and file a bug against iPhoto.

Here's the enhancement request I sent to Apple (Bug ID# 7355183):
Summary:
Please give iPhoto plugins, such as FlickrExport, access to geotagging (location) info. Otherwise, users have to enter the location info. twice: once in iPhoto and again in Flickr.
Notes:
For more on FlickrExport, see

Inappropriate?Juri Pakaste has an article about using Apple Script to update the EXIF data in the photos prior to exporting with Flickr Export. Check it out here.

I have not tried it yet.
