Write GPS metadata back to Apterture
I use flickrExport to add GEO Data to my pictures (Load GPX data). I see there is a checkbox to add this information to the metadata in Aperture. The problem is that the metadata is not written to the image metadata in Aperture after the image has been uploaded to Flickr.
It would also be nice to be able to write the metadata to the files without uploading the files to Flickr.
I'm on Apterture 1.5 and the files are Canon RAW files.

Inappropriate? There's a checkbox in FlickrExport 3.0 to write a custom metadata tag to Aperture for latitude and longitude. Aperture simply doesn't allow plugins to modify the actual EXIF fields directly.
I’m waiting.

"Aperture simply doesn't allow plugins to modify the actual EXIF fields directly."
This can't be entirely true, since the Aperture plugin "Maperture" does precisely this! It lets you select the location on Google Maps and modifies the EXIF data in the original images. Perhaps Aperture has been updated to allow this since the original post was made, so hopefully this issue could now be resolved in a better way? -
Andrew, my understanding is that Maperture is an _edit_ plugin (same as Noise Ninja, etc), rather than an _export_ plugin. The difference is probably not meaningful to most users, but it does have an impact on what a plugin can do. -
Inappropriate?I purchased PlaceTagger, a GPS app for iPhones that comes with a plugin to tag photos from within Aperture. It is probably an "Edit" plugin. It would be great if FlickrExport could do this but I do understand the difference between Edit and Export - it's too bad Aperture is not more flexible.
Cheers,
Francis.
