Game Data Oddness

CRASHBOMB gets its game data from Freebase.com, which is an excellent service for organizing data from all over the Web into a re-usable format. This is one of the things that we like a lot about CRASHBOMB.

Freebase contains a huge mass of data, and the topic of Videogames is large area of data collection. That means sometimes there are weird things that show up -- such as a game listed with one console called "Windows PC" and another called "Windows OS".

The ultimate solution to this problem is to visit Freebase.com and edit that game's data before you add the game on CRASHBOMB. CRASHBOMB pulls data live from Freebase, so your changes will show up when you search on CRASHBOMB. This solution also creates more good Freebase contributors and helps Freebase improve their data set overall.

Now, we don't expect all of our users to have the time to help edit Freebase, so we do try to massage the data we get back in various ways to prevent errors and inconsistencies. If you notice anything weird -- a platform that doesn't belong, a game title that renders incorrectly on CRASHBOMB, etc. then please post a reply here to let us know what game you were looking at and what you had searched for. This will help us track down those edge cases and get them sorted.

Thanks again for helping improve CRASHBOMB!
