Contact List would be very powerful with a "Groups" feature
Hey gang, we are loving this product! You've done a great job getting this thing put together. I just wanted to throw one suggestion your way...
Would you consider giving the ability to add custom-defined Groups within the Contact List? For instance, a sports club might want to create groups called "Girl's Soccer Team", "Boy's Soccer Team", "Coaches", etc., which would allow them to very easily send an invite to just one group without having to use the individual check boxes in the Contacts list. (That gets quite tedious with large lists.) But contacts must be allowed to be in more than one group. This would allow that same organization to create different breakdowns of their groups like, "Middle School Girls Soccer Team", "High School Girls Soccer Team", and so on, allowing invites to easily be sent only to specific groups of people.
This could really take invite sending to a whole new level. Just a thought. Thanks!

Inappropriate? We actually do have exactly this feature :)
If you go to your contacts page there is a link at the top that says "Add Tags". You can check the contacts you want and then click the link, and add tags like "girls soccer".
Then when you send out the invitation the autocomplete will bring up your tags. So "girls soccer" would come up as an option. You can also click "expand", above the invitation box, if you want to see the e-mail addresses linked to that tag, or you can just send out the invites.
Once you have the "boys soccer" tag it can be used as well.
Then since you have the shared word "soccer", you could even invite soccer, which would invite the the boys and girls.
Let me know if that is clear, I'd be happy to go in to more detail if it isn't -
Inappropriate? Some more clarification even though you didn't request :)
Tags work on a word level. So if you gave someone the tag "girls soccer coach", it would be read as "girls" and "soccer" and "coach".
Then when you send an invitation, you can combine the words to invite the correct people.
Lets say you had these contacts:
Joe : "girls soccer coach"
Mary : "boys soccer coach"
Craig : "boys tennis coach"
Phillis : "girls soccer"
Brent : "boys soccer"
You could send out an invitation to the tag "soccer coach" and it would send to Mary and Joe, just "coach" would send to Joe, Mary, and Craig. You could also send to "boys soccer" and it would invite Mary and Brent.
If you are in the invitation box and aren't sure who your tags will invite, click the "expand" link above the box and it'll show you all the e-mail addresses that will be invited. -
Inappropriate?Wow! That's brilliant!! I never even noticed that "Add Tags" link. The way you've set this up actually gives a lot more flexibility than what I was proposing, but we'll also have to be careful in the specific wording we choose for our "groups" to make sure we don't accidentally send to a broader selection than we might intend to. But, of course, we can always use the "expand" feature you mentioned to double-check before we send them out.
Thanks a million. You made my day!

Inappropriate? Our pleasure. The auto-complete in the invitation box can also be a help to show you the available tags you have and a possible help to prevent inadvertent broad selections - like you said though, the "expand" feature is great for double-checking. Let us know how it works for you after you've gotten a chance to play around :)

Inappropriate?OK so what am I not doing to get this feature to work properly. I copy 10 email addresses into my invitation sendto box, add the new tag LJAWF in the group box and it does create the tag and a group but only 4 of the contacts get this tag. The others don't or they only keep the tags they had before being added.
2. From "Crowd" I click "add tag" and it defaults to "no contacts selected". I am trying to find the contacts in this group so I can see if all I want are included. Frustratingly unintuitive sequence for this feature. Please give me step by step to add existing contacts to a particular tag. Thanks
I’m frustrated
