rsvp interface problems
Hi crush3r. We really want to love you, but we have had a LOT of difficulty with a recent event.
1. The interface makes it very difficult for people to tell if they have rsvp'd or not. (We have show guest list turned off.) We have tried as if we are guests and we agree that it is a strange interface. One feels that one should click just one more time but there is no option to do that. After putting in name & email, we received a message saying "an invitation has been sent" but there was no button to click saying "yes, i'm coming." Hence we get a flood of comments from people confused about whether they had RSVPd or not.
2. People are able to RSVP without including an email address (and also without being crush3r members). In this case there is no way we can contact them to send more information about the event. We are very sad about this.
ALSO a REQUEST: our events are advertised to a hundred people (or more) and they FILL UP at 30. We really need the guest list to display in order of RSVP and we need to be able set a cutoff. Ideally we would like to have a waiting list as well. Are these features possible?
Thank you,
durant y violet

Inappropriate?Durant & Violet,
First, thanks for giving Crusher a try. It's been under attack from spam bots in the past few weeks which lead to error messages when you click but we are working to fix that. To reply to your questions:
1. Make sure you have "Request RSVP" turned on. I suspect you don't. If you go to the Invite People module where you send invites, the option is selected by default. You should leave this selected.
If selected, then the user will see the controls on the page that clearly displays their RSVP.
If this option is turned off, then there is no RSVP. The user simply adds themselves into a guest list.
2. Adding yourself to the guest list does ask for an email address. If a user doesn't enter it, then they probably don't wish to share it. Do you think an email address should be required?
As for the feature request: That sounds good. We don't have these features yet but it's on our feature list for the future. I'll be sure to move it up.
Thanks again for the feedback. -
Inappropriate? For #2, it seems like a good way to work this would be to have a note when people RSVP. It would be something like "If you enter an email address, you can be updated about this event. Otherwise, the host(s) have no ability to alert you to changes in the event."
I love that you don't need to enter extra info to RSVP but they have a good point...
I’m hopeful this helps.

Inappropriate?Hey that's a great suggestion. I'll be sure to add that messaging for the next deployment.

Inappropriate?I'm actually most interested in the Feature Request that violet suggested - I too am starting to schedule events with a limited size guest list.
I don't think an email should be required to RSVP - but if you really want to get one from guests, you can leave something out (Such as the event location) that gets emailed out on the day before the event, as incentive for people to leave their email address. -
Anca, the limited sized guest list feature is there now :) -
Inappropriate?Yeah I find that there is a difference between what guests want and what organizers want. I get requests from organizers that email should be required to RSVP but guests prefer to have it optional. Ultimately I think I'll have it as an option for the organizer if they want to require it. It's them publishing the page and up to them how they want to treat their guests.
