Inappropriate?I like the friends feature. This will allow me to keep up with friends at Current and the pods they kicking out. Maybe the bar (or current.com) could use a tab be to share opportunities for collaboration. Not just what has been uploaded, but what is in the works.
-
Inappropriate?Wasn't a big deal, but the currentbar.xpi file that downloaded had to be dragged and dropped on my freshly installed firefox browser window. It didn't automatically install on its own. (Mac Pro running Leopard)
-
Inappropriate?i had no problem installing both mac and pc.
i think it's a cool little toolbar, but i was wondering if maybe adding some more buttons would be good. i always seem to use the "Latest Headlines" RSS feed that's built into Firefox to look at the latest news from the BBC. Can you guys add that kind of feature to the current.com toolbar? Like maybe a feed for the latest pods or news or whatever. Thanks
I’m excited

Inappropriate? Thanks Fry Flux and bigloutech --
We are working on a better install page for the actual launch, so thanks for the feedback there.
As for bonus features, would you like to be able to enter RSS feeds that will populate content into a dropdown window, or a rail? Also, would you prefer entering external RSS, or selecting from recent posts on Current, etc.?
Keep the feedback coming, we want to make the toolbar an easy way to contribute to Current.com.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Bigloutech has a good point with the RSS feeds. I would like to see them as text only ticker in the bar itself. (Like the feeds at the top of gmail) I like to keep my desktop pretty clean. No extra widgets and windows. Maybe a drop down menu like the one on the side of the Firefox browser window. If the user saw headline that peeked their interest in the ticker but it changed, they could click the drop down. The drop down menu could offer pics and descriptions of the headlines (like the left column of current.com) on a cycle matching the ticker. The user could click the headline in either menu or ticker to link to the story's current.com page. The user could also collapse the menu back into the toolbar and continue browsing.

Inappropriate?i think the rss feeds are fine as a dropdown window and should be from Current and maybe give the use the option of selecting different feeds or topics. i know i always seem to look at certain topics more than others.
-
Inappropriate?cool...i see the extra feeds have been added.
-
Inappropriate?so far so good. i like the message on the right-hand side of the toolbar that pops-up whenever i'm looking at a story/website that's being discussed on current. makes it easy to get into the discussion.
-
Inappropriate?seems that the "News & Politics", "Sex & Love", and "Music" topic feeds are down.
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the tip bigloutech. I pulled out some of the localization code that was causing that, so the US/UK mix in those middle three topics might be blurry for a bit, but the feeds are working.
I’m better now, but still working at it

Inappropriate?Hi Mario, I have been trying to install the tool bar but keep getting an error message. It says that says:
Firefox could not install the file at
https://apps.current.com/im/currentba...
because: Unknown or invalid file hash type

Inappropriate?Hey Jubal, let me take a look. What URL are you on when you get that message?

Inappropriate?Refresh and try again please! Sorry for the double-take.

Inappropriate?http://apps.current.com/im/beta/toolb...
This is the URL I was at. I just tried again and got the same error message. I also turned off my firewall ZoneAlarm in order to trouble shoot and see if that was causing the problem. It came up with the same error message. I did upgrade to Version 3 of Firefox and I really like the new version a lot.
Hope I can get this API installation resolved.... -
Inappropriate?Jubal ~ if you are on AIM or Yahoo IM, ping me at mrdlevine and I can walk you through it. Otherwise, try to refresh the page and install again.

Inappropriate?hey bigloutech,
i'm looking into this for you, but in the meantime can you try a couple things for me?
1/ restart firefox. does the toolbar reset?
2/ if not, restart your machine. any luck?
3/ if not, uninstall the toolbar from firefox, then reinstall.
let me know if any of these work for you.
thanks!
