Plugin unable to log into confluence despite correct URL and Credentials
I am having trouble with your Confluence Salesforce Plugin.
We are evaluating the plugin so I went ahead and tried to install it on our test instance of confluence. I dropped the jar (crm-salesforce-confluence-1.1.jar) into the WEB-INF/lib directory. I went to the configuration screen and entered the login information. The plugin says " Error: ( Customware-CRM-plugin ) - Could not log in. Username and password not configured"
Using confluence version 3.0.1
Using plugin version 1.1
Tried using URLs: https://www.salesforce.com/services/S... and https://www.salesforce.com/services/S...
Also, an unexpected behavior is after I enter a login and password, then hit reload, or save, the number of dots in the password field changes, which makes me wonder if the password is getting mangled somehow. I grepped the directory for the password but couldn't find it anywhere, is it stored in the database?
I saw the issue at http://www.getsatisfaction.com/custom... and tried that but it didn't solve my problem.
I can be reached at cmyers@palantirtech.com.
Thanks!
-Carl

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.

Inappropriate?I believe the plugin should be installed by either uploading, or from the Plugin Repository, rather than copying into WEB-INF/lib. Remove it from there and upload it via the Administration > Plugin screen instead, and see if you do any better.

Inappropriate?David,
I tried your suggestion, to no avail. What is the next step?
Thanks!

I’m sad

Hi Carl,
Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with the Salesforce plugins, so I've contacted a couple of other people who are, and will get back to you by early next week. -
Inappropriate?Hi Carl,
When configuring your SalesForce username/password, are you using your normal password that you use to log into SalesForce?
The password actually requires your security token appended to the end of it, so assume your password is "mypass" and your security token is "XXXXXXXXX" then your configured password in the connector should be "mypassXXXXXXXXX".
Please let us know if this solves your problem.

Inappropriate?Bo,
Thanks for the suggestion. That was indeed the problem. From reading the documentation, it was not clear whether this applied to the jira plugin only or the confluence plugin as well. Reading over it again, it looks like you might have already updated the documentation to be clearer.
I suggest it would be much clearer still if you create an installation page specifically for the confluence plugin instead of saying "refer to the jira plugin docs". The plugins and interface are different and it would be helpful to have screenshots and exact error messages from the confluence plugin, instead of wondering what applies and what doesn't.
Thanks!

I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Hi Carl,
I'm glad this solves your problem.
I have forwarded your comment to the tech writers in charge of the documentation on the site and will have it updated to reflect your comments, thanks for your suggestions.

Bo Wang
