write 6sec data to text file
dale. congradulations on the software, I have just started using it. I have seen other posts about logging etc but was wondering if it is possible to write the data to an text/excel file rather than plotting the data once you have your laptop hooked up via serial. This would effectively give you 6sec readings for however long you have your computer hooked up to it.

Inappropriate? The GUI does allow for exporting the live data collected to a CSV file (for importing into Excel).
However, as it currently is, it would also render the graph while doing this.
If all you want is something to write CurrentCost data to a log file, a simple stand-alone script is probably more appropriate. Code from http://code.google.com/p/currentcost/ could easily be tweaked to create something which logs to a CSV file - without the processing overhead you would incur from my GUI in generating graphs. -
Inappropriate?Hi Dale
Am I right in saying that the GUI only allows you to export hours/days/months to CSV which are collective averages of 6sec data? Is it possible to write to a text/CSV file every 6sec as from what I have read the current cost meter has limited memory capabilities and I dont want to go down the slug/server option. The reason why I want to do this is I’m interested in generating 1min data profiles for different houses over 24hr period for some analysis I’m doing for college. -
Inappropriate?sorted! I had an ealier version of the software that did'nt have this capability. Dowloaded and installed new version and works perfectly.
