A new user (koffeerox) pointed out a problem with avatar pictures:
"As a new user of dandelife, I've been getting the "Status: 500 Internal Server Error Content-Type: text/html " message whenever I click on the default dandelion icon where my profile picture goes. I've been wanting use a custom profile pic, but cannot seem to do this as I get that message each time."
I tried this out myself and got the same error. I tested with the following combinations:
Vista / IE 8
Vista / FF 3.1 beta 3
XP / IE 8
XP / FF 3.0.7
Linux / FF 3.0.7
Can't add tags to stories. When I type in a tag and click the "Add" button, the little pop-up that says "Saving new tag" pops up briefly, but the tag never sticks. Using Windows Vista and Firefox 3.1 beta 2. (Does the same thing using Internet Explorer 7 and 8.) Oddly enough, the "add people" feature seems to work fine.
On a related note, I want to delete some the tags that get imported with flickr photos, but they won't delete.
When I go to the "Account Settings" page and click the link to download my account data in XML format, all I get is the error page: "HTTP 404 not found". Which is odd... it worked just fine about a week ago. (I back up my data... I'm anal that way. ;))
As always, I'm running Windows Vista and using Firefox 3.1 beta 2 and Internet Explorer 7 and 8.
I made a new Flickr account. I created a new story, and clicked the Photos from Flickr buttons. I was asked to verify my account ("Your flickr account is not verified yet. Please verify it"). I typed my new Flickr id in the box, and clicked Verify. A Flickr login window came up. I typed in my password and clicked Sign In. I then got the message Page not found! The URL at the top of the Safari/Mac window was http://dandelife.com/flickr/callback?... I had the same problem in FireFox, where the callback was also http://dandelife.com/flickr/callback?...
When I submit a comment, I get an error in red saying "couldn't send email notification", however, the comment does get posted. It fooled me into thinking the comment didn't get saved, but then I saw that it did after I reloaded the story.
I have not been able to log into the new Dandelife for about 24 hours. My blog page displays, and the login panel will come up, but when I try to sign in, it just churns and churns and never logs me in. I've tried in both Mac FireFox 3.0.6 and Safari 3.2.1.
Noticed a number of missing "features" from Dandelife lately:
1. Avatars of logged-in visitors no longer appear on story pages.
2. New stories don't appear in "My Streams" or "My World" -- just bits.
3. When I hit "Submit" after creating a new story, I get an error page. The story does get posted, though. (Incidentally, I only noticed this after FireFox upgraded to 3.0.3).
4. The links to get to one's "Blog" or "Timeline" are missing.
5. Haven't received any network update / comment notification e-mails in quite a while.
Hoping this just means an upgrade is in the works! Woo-hoo!
I have been trying to set up an account, but never get an email confirmation - didn't use gmail coz of your warning, but checked both spam/bulk mail for two accounts (both yahoo, but different addresses (ymail, rocketmail)) and nothing. No mails, can't login - is Dandelife down or dead?
It seems that my flickr stream isn't working. I posted a number of photos over the past week, but nothing since 7/7 appears on my Dandelife page. Is this error on my part, or is there something else going on?
Of all the things we currently do, what do you think we should be doing better? That is, instead of adding features, we feel it's time to take the features we've got and simply make them better. You help us decide!
I just saw that there's a way to report spam through the Help forum, and I was wondering if you'll be adding a way to report users who are spamming from their dandelife page itself. That way it'd be easier for users to report these people, and maybe that will also make it easier for you to find these spammers and delete their accounts?
My feed still has the title I gave to my blog before. I'm not planning to change it soon, but in the case I wanted to, how do I do it? The option to change that is gone since the interface was changed. -- Just so you know, this is not about the interface. I like this newer interface and all the new features.
I can't add headings to a post. I can add other formatting fine, but headings as well as centering of images isn't working for me right now.
First try:
1. Made post with one h1 heading, several h2 headings, and several centered images.
2. Clicked OK.
3. It stays in the edit format. (As in I don't see how the post looks like.)
4. I go to the entry I just made, to see how it looks like, and the headings don't appear. It shows it as normal text. The images aren't centered either.
5. I click on the post to edit it again, but all the formatting is still there and everything looks fine, even if I look at the source.
6. I click on OK again and repeat the steps I did before, but the same problem persists.
Try 2:
1. Made a shorter post with a line that has a heading.
2. Clicked OK. The message is saved and I can see the post right away. Apparently, the settings were saved fine.
3. I refresh the page (without having editing anything) and the changes are gone. All text looks normal (paragraph).
4. I click on edit and the formatting is there still, so why isn't it showing it?
5. Clicked on OK, and repeated the steps taken before to get the same frustrating results.
When I view the source of the whole page, the heading doesn't appear there, but when I view the HTML source through the dandelife editor, the headings are there. What's going on?
