What can we do better?
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?I didn't even know dandelife had a getsatisfaction page. I like this much better than the current help forum. Anyway, to answer your question:
1. Improve commenting: I like how I can subscribe to comments if I want to, and I'm glad that now that option is off by default. But, I think the commenting system can get better:
* Formatting: To format my comments, I can use HTML, but if I do, the HTML is shown in my stream and that doesn't look nice. So, if the HTML has to stay, then I think there should be:
- A line indicating HTML is allowed and maybe what tags are allowed.
- A way for the HTML not to be shown in streams.
Or, a different/easier way of formatting the comments, like BBcode. I don't like flashy/ugly formatting, but it's always good to have a way to easily add links or make some words bold.
* Option to control who leaves you comments: Options to disable comments, allow only friends/family/fans to comment, and/or to block specific people from leaving you comments. (I know that we can control the privacy of our stories, but it would also be good to have options regarding comments. I wouldn't disable comments entirely -- in fact, it's unlikely I'll change anything--, but this option would let users feel they have more control regarding feedback and that's always good, right?)
* Let non-members leave comments? Yes, I know that this would mean adding yet another option to what I mentioned before (as in an option to allow comments from dandelife members only), but I know that not everyone I know might want to join dandelife just to leave me a comment. So, would it be possible to do this? or would it be too much of a hassle? I know that spam is a problem, but maybe it could be restricted to people who at least use OpenID?
2. OpenID Support (to sign in/register): Has it been considered?
3. Streams:
* Privacy control for streams?
* Sync with Wordpress? There's livejournal and typepad sync options, so I hope wordpress is next.
4. Inbox: A way to see sent messages?
5. Tags:
* A way to easily add tags to several stories at once? Maybe there could be a "tag management" center in which one can see stories in a list and check mark the ones we want to tag or (or "untag") with something specific.
* Feeds for each tag and/or person mentioned?
6. Invitations: A way to easily invite friends from other networks or from address book? Plaxo has a tool for this and other social websites allow you to import your buddies from other networks, is this going to be done in dandelife too? -
Wow! Great post. -
Inappropriate?A feature I'd like to see is the ability to search or sort the "Wander" pages. For example, just show the Dandelife comment streams, or just the Flickr streams, etc. Maybe the ability to sort by names (though, the streams are already grouped nicely that way).
Keep up the great work! -
Inappropriate?I don't know where else to get the answer to this question....I'm really annoyed. I signed for Dandelife like a while ago but I did nothing more than sign up. Now when I do a goole search for myself, like the third option is Dandelife with my name in front of it....Dandelion MY NAME's Life. I do not like this at all so I went back to dandelife and deleted my account.
IT STILL SHOWS UP ON GOOGLE!!! Will it ever delete???? What is the deal?? -
If you have deleted your account, then it's probably the fault of Google's cache. I'm not sure how likely it is they will remove a link for you, but you can try contacting them at: search-quality@google.com // If you ever decide to try dandelife again, you could always use a nickname instead of your actual name. (Maybe it'd be a good idea to add a feature that allows us to select whether we want search engines to find our dandelife page or not?) -
Inappropriate?Hey lovestravel: Are you able to start a new topic about this? I bet they'd be happy to answer, but your problem will probably get more visibility if you start a new topic. We'll all do our best to tackle it!
-
Inappropriate?@lovestravel - i posted a reply to your question in a different topic.
http://getsatisfaction.com/dandelife/...
please let me know if this does not do the trick for you. -
Inappropriate? This has been mentioned in a couple of comment postings on Dandelife, so I thought I'd get them posted here.
1. Unable to edit/delete comments posted on photo bits (possibly other bits?)
2. If a flickr photo title has a single quote (apostrophe) in it, the import function truncates the title at the apostrophe (flickr problem or dandelife problem?)
3. If you copy and paste a story from Microsoft Word, some error messages come along with the text. This is more of a Microsoft issue, but a good work-around is to use "notepad" as a middleman (strips out all the crappy Word metadata)
Can't wait to see the next version you guys keep teasing us with!

I’m freakin' in love with Dandelife!
-
BTW, I saw these recommendations. Did you try the Word-cleaner that's in the WYSIWYG editor? And for the first two, I'm not too happy with the way we deal with Flickr either. Seems like there must be a better way to do photos and videos all around, no? Would you consider uploading your photos and videos to Dandelife instead (if we had such a service)? Both? -
Inappropriate? So, I'm working on a porfolio of work for a educational technology class. What I need to do is to embed my dandilife timeline into my wiki. There seems to be no way to do this! I signed up because several people suggested this site, but it's not comming even remotely close to what I need it to do. Here's the question I need answered:
Where do I get the HTML to embed my timeline (photo or otherwise) into another site? Can I even do that?
I’m pretty frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, so this is pretty easy if you have a bunch of stories all ready to "widgetize"
My widgets (of which embeddable timeline that you're looking for is one) are here: http://dandelife.com/kga245/widget
Yours would be at: http://dandelife.com/USERNAME/widget (just replace USERNAME with your username.
Alternatively, I can show you how to navigate to it, but it's a bit more complicated.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate? This has been true for a long time but I've never said it. You cannot create a hyperlink with the little link widget in Mac Safari. I have to go to Mac FireFox to do this.
I’m frustrated
-
-
That would be very cool! Thanks. -
Inappropriate? If you write a story in Mac MS Word and paste it into the story text box in Mac Safari, you get huge spaces between your paragraphs when you save the story. I've taken to using FireFox to post stories, even though I browse in Safari.
I’m frustrated
-
I tried copy-pasting from word (on a mac) and I got this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kga245/2...
Can you help me duplicate your problem more, please? -
It seems that my default font when I open up a new Word doc is Times New Roman 12 pt font. I created a sample file and pasted the contents. I got the same results -- double lines between paragraphs instead of single lines. I'm using Safari 3.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.4. If I can find a way to mail you the sample file I will. Otherwise, I'll ask you for suggestions about how to do so. -
OK, well, I'm not sure how to send you the file. If I can do that, or if there is some other way to help you to reproduce what I am seeing, let me know! I don't know whether seeing a blog entry would help, but here is my sample: http://dandelife.com/story/51686 -
I definitely see the double-spaces. Can I ask you what version of Word you're using? -
Word 2004 for Mac Version 11.4.2 (080415) -
I was afraid you'd say that. I'm going to go track down a compute with that configuration so I can test against it. Stay tuned... -
Inappropriate?I've never been able to import a Flickr photo set in either Mac Safari or Mac FireFox. If I could do this, I would actually upgrade my Flickr account so that I could create sets. The photo to photo navigation is far superior (I assume, from what I've seen of others' photo collections) than the navigation from photo to photo on a story. Which reminds me... it would be nice to have better photo to photo navigation on photos that are included as part of a story (next/prev).
I’m wistful.

if you go to that link above, you'll see what I see (safari and firefox) for importing photos from flickr. Do you ever see a page like then when you try to import? -
Yes, I see that screen, but when I select a set and click Import, I am returned to the http://dandelife.com/nosecrets view without any evidence that I can see of my set having been imported. -
One reason that I think the next/prev navigation is important is that not many people seem to view my photos individually (at least judging by the distinct lack of little icons of logged in users on my photo screens). I think if people could navigate those photos more quickly, they'd be more likely to view them. -
OK, so the first part (getting your Dandelife account to talk to your Flickr account) seems to be working. The second part, actually importing photo sets, is not. I am able to duplicate that bug too.
Thanks for finding it for me! -
I totally agree. :-) -
Let me know if you ever need feedback from a Mac end-user about new or existing Dandelife features. I am passionate about the Mac and care about how the web and the Mac interoperate. -
I'm a big mac fan too. I'll definitely call on you.
