The Delicious Bookmarks plug-in is amazing, but I'd like to see some way to sync bookmarks with Firefox Places. Ideally, this would happen automatically, but if server calls and load are a problem, it would be nice to schedule it once a day / week or just have an on-demand option.
Several days ago all the 'favourite tags' that I'd added to my del.icio.us toolbar (Firefox extension) disappeared from the list of options available to me in 'bookmarks view' and so far I have been unable to re-add them.
These are the steps I'm following to try and re-add them:
- I open the 'Manage Favourite Tags' dialogue.
- When I type in the input field, the drop-down hint list works and I am able to select the tag I need.
- When I click on the 'add tag' button the tag is added to my list of 'favourite tags'
- When I click on the 'OK' button, the dialogue disappears (as expected) but the tags don't appear in the drop-down list for the 'bookmarks view'.
- When I re-open the 'Manage Favourite Tags' dialogue, the tags I just added have disappeared.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
I'm using the Delicious Bookmarks extension version 2.0.95 in Firefox 3, and I can no longer add Favorite Tags. When I click "Manage favorite tags", I enter a bunch of tags, but when I press "OK" nothing shows up in Favorite Tags View - it's just a blank list
I love Delicious and have a thousand bookmarks saved on my main account, with subsidiary accounts for other purposes. I don't understand the purpose of the latest update/extension, to sync Delicious bookmarks with Firefox ones. One of the benefits of using Delicious, for me, is NOT to keep a record of all the sites I value on the various computers I use. Additionally, the only advantage I can see to this syncing is having access to the bookmarks when offline -- but what is the point of having a list of unobtainable websites? If my net connnection is down, the last thing I want is to be tantalised with what is unavailable.
I suspect I am missing the point here. Could anyone either give me a succinct explanation of how this feature is supposed to help my life, or, preferably, point me towards longer discussions (blog posts, articles) that explain this conundrum? And, secondly, as I have not yet OK'd the "Delicious Bookmark Add-on", how can I get it not to pop up everytime I start FF? Thanks.
