Adding iTunes albums to library
Is it possible to drag items in iTunes into my library, instead of having to scan them again?

Inappropriate?Well, you could just leave them where they are, and import your iTunes collection into DL2 using our automatic import.
Is there a reason you'd like to make a copy? Are you using version 2?

Wil, maybe he wants the ability to edit the data in some way, something that's not possible for items that are not "physical" to DL... If that's the case, it all comes to the same situation I asked for in another thread... -
Stupid me... I didn't notice the script for automatic import... -
Hi Will,I am using 2.0.2. I have imported the iTunes library into DM. I would like to put the albums into DM, so that If lent out they would reflect that which I can't do from I tunes. I also need it for insurace purposs -
Inappropriate?File > Import > iTunes Albums...
I'm not really sure how this would work on the long run 'tho... I did a quick test and it seems that each time you use the script it imports the whole iTunes library, but that will leave you with tons of duplicate CDs... Am I overlooking something?
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate? You'll get duplicates if you run the script multiple times, I think.
I always meant to be able to drag something from iTunes into your main Library and have it make a copy, but I ran out of time. Still like the idea, though.
I'm kind of tempted now to go ahead and just let you edit iTunes data in the database, and maybe even try to link it up with Amazon. I'll investigate this, but I wouldn't expect any changes on it until 3.0. (Which will NOT be three years, this time, since I'm not rewriting the core classes or the graphics classes, like with 2.)

Inappropriate? Is there a way that Gracenote could interface with amazon to make the copy?
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I don't really know anything about Gracenote except they charge money for access to data that they had huge numbers of people collect for free. Not my kind of people.

Inappropriate? It'd be really useful if there was a visible flag of some sort (togglable on/off) in both the iTunes items and the Music Library items to indicate which are in both. Is there there and I'm missing it?
I have 500+ CDs which I've yet to import most of and/or rip into iTunes. It'd be nice if there was a way to track via DL which ones have been Ripped, as I scan them in.
If there isn't something like this already, I'll add it as a new feature suggestion. -
Inappropriate?I'll second that. I have only a small fraction of my CD collection ripped to itunes. It's nice to sort across the DL library AND iTunes, but it'd be great to see which is which some way.
I’m fully caffeinated
-
Inappropriate? You can select both your "Music" folder and your "iTunes" folder, and then visually just look for items that aren't duplicated.
-
Inappropriate?I ́d like to import only those albums from itunes, which i ́ve bought digitally.
Because they are not all from iTunes, i ́d like to have the option to import only a chosen playlist from itunes.
We ́re talking about almost 1.000 CD + download without LP & MC (still work to do), so doing in by hand is no real option.
