Backup of database fails
I am trying to backup my DL2 database with Apple's Backup utility. I was able to do this on another Mac in the past but it doesn't work on this Mac.
I have downloaded and installed the DL2 written quick Pick utility from the Blog. I then created a new Backup plan and selected DL2 as the only option and a destination of iDisk.
When I ran the backup it fails immediately. The backup log file indicates there is nothing to backup however I have hundreds of items in the DL2 database.
The backup log file shows these messages:
Connected to .Mac
Begin backup at 2009-04-15 22:59:20.966 +1200
Scanning files...
The plan specified no items to back up.
End backup at 2009-04-15 22:59:21.494 +1200
I know I can backup the files from the library folder but I was just wondering if the Quick Pick installer works these days. If not then perhaps all users should be warned that their database backups are worthless when using the quick pick option. Also perhaps the quick pick installer should be removed from the blog.
Running DL version 2.07 (v10915)
Backup version 3.1.2 (v374)
OS version 10.5.6
Also note the backup summary in the image below. The folder backup shows 217.9MB but the quick pick shows 0KB.

Inappropriate? That may not work anymore since it was from the DL1 days. If you want a quick and easy way to back up your library, the contents of it are hidden away in your home folder > library > application support > delicious library 2. If you copy this folder over to an external (or anywhere safe), then your library will be backed up and [hopefully] safe from corruption.
Let me know if you run into any problems!

Inappropriate?Thanks Jessie.
Can you change the blog entry so it mentions it's for version 1 as both the blog and the utility doesn't mention which DL version it works with.
Since I upgraded from DL1 to DL2 right back when DL2 was first released I have been using the backup quick pick to backup my DL database and all this time it has been backing up my old database only. I have only noticed the problem now that DL2 has been moved to a Mac with no DL1 previously installed. If I had a hard disk crash I could have lost the whole database. Any user reading that blog entry might try to use that utility also and risk loosing the entire database.
FYI: The backup of the library folders is working fine.

Inappropriate?I've updated the QuickPick to work with DL2 and up. I got annoyed at the fact that the "official" version from the blog was old and hadn't been updated. You can find the QP at: http://www.megatome.com/mt/4

Hi Chad, Your link doesn't work. -
Try it now. It actually helps if I get the file name right. :)
