Can't get DL2 to refresh, resubscribe to iTunes library
I'm running DL2 2.0.2 and iTunes 7.7.1 on a Mac Pro with 10.5.4. My 300+ GB library is kept on a second internal hard drive.
When DL2 first came out the "subscribe to iTunes" feature worked well the first time I turned it on. I was able to publish my library to my iWeb site and everything went smoothly.
I haven't run DL2 in a while, but I started it up yesterday due to the 2.0.2 update. Now, though, I can't get DL2 to refresh and see all the new iTunes media I've added in the last month or two. I tried turning the feature off and back on, but then DL2 wouldn't even re-subscribe to my iTunes library anymore.
I recovered a previous version of my DL2 library with the iTunes entries from Time Machine, but I still can't figure out how to get DL2 to refresh media from my iTunes library or start fresh. I've tried deleting both DL2's /Application Support/ folder and preferences file, then starting up DL2 fresh. But even then, the "Subscribe to iTunes library" preference simply doesn't work now.
Is this an issue with iTunes 7.7.1 perhaps? Or did something break in DL2 2.0.2? Any help is much appreciated.

Inappropriate?I changed stuff in 2.0.2 to work with _more_ iTunes libraries, so it's always possible I messed up and some of the ones that used to work don't work any more.
Do you have your iTunes library in a non-default place? Did you ever, and then move it back, maybe?

Inappropriate?Yes, I'm running a Mac Pro and my iTunes library is housed on a second internal drive, separate from my boot drive. It's always been there, and the original DL2 release worked with it very well.
But even then, I nuked all my DL2 support folders and preferences file, restarted, and opened DL2 fresh with a blank library, and the "subscribe to iTunes library" feature didn't work at all. Could the recent iTunes 7.7.1 update have broken something DL2 needed? -
Inappropriate? Also: is DL2 supposed to automatically refresh its iTunes subscriptions when it starts up? I can't find any kind of manual refresh button or option.

Inappropriate?I'm having a similar problem. My iTunes Music folder location is set to
esd:Music:, which is a non-standard location (I think the default is~/Music/iTunes), and is also hosted on a FileVault image (which is why the location starts with my home directory name, I think).
The way the behavior manifested was that changes I made to my iTunes Library were not being reflected in DL2. I restarted DL2, and saw that the changes were still not reflected. So I unchecked and rechecked "Subscribe to my iTunes library" in Preferences. That resulted in the iTunes shelves totally disappearing from the source list, as David describes, and restarting DL2 and unchecking/rechecking the preference doesn't seem to help. -
Inappropriate?Hrm. Well, I made changes, I guess for some people it got worse. I wish there were some documentation on how iTunes uses its preferences.
I'll have to ask you guys for you iTunes preference files again when I look into this -- right now I'm fixing FTP publishing problems, though. -
Cool. I'd be glad to send my preference files over whenever you'd like. Thanks! -
Inappropriate? If you file a bug report and say, "iTunes not working in 2.0.2", and append your iTunes preference file, that'd help a ton!
-
Inappropriate? How exactly do I do that? I checked the Feedback/bug report option in DL2 itself but I don't see a way to attach a file. Is there someone specific I can email this?

Inappropriate?E-mailing bugs to <bugs@delicious-monster.com> goes to the exact same place as the bug window.

Inappropriate?Another that can't seem to subscribe. My main library is stored at Public:Our Music: on an external NAS drive. Simply doesn't show (though prefs are set to subscribe). Something to keep in mind many like I have multiple libraries, including out of practicality on a laptop. I use Libra to manage, but you can do it inside iTunes itself so there has to be a switching of library XMLs. If I switch to my abridged library (which is in default location on primary hd) it shows, but not if main.
The Libra app creator seems to have reverse engineered the preferences process. Maybe contact Roy - http://homepage.mac.com/sroy/libra/ -
Inappropriate?Wonder if this is being worked on as majority of the reason I upgraded. Like many storing my complete collection on a main drive (laptop) is impossible.

Inappropriate?Same problem here... why not getting the location of the iTunes Library from the iTunes settings?
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?me too. music library stored at /users/shared/iTunes Music
bummed.
I’m a frowny faced guy.

Inappropriate?I have worked around my issue with this by doing the following:
Creating a symbolic link (alias) to my "iTunes Music" directory on my external drive (or non-default location).
Moving that link to my (default) ~/Music/iTunes local disk directory (where all my other iTunes files such as the xml Library are located).
Renaming the link from "iTunes Music alias" to "iTunes Music". (If a blank one already exists you will need to delete it and empty trash).
In iTunes under Preferences/Advanced, Reset the iTunes Music location, which should now point to the iTunes default, which should be the sym linked external location.
This forced a Library Update process in iTunes for me.
Then ran Delicious Library 2.0.4 (v10689). The iTunes section now shows up again.
