Email Reminders
I'd like automated email reminders to my friends who borrow things once their "due date" expires.

Inappropriate?Automated as in "does it without any intervention from you, even if you don't run Delicious Library 2," or automated as in, "next time you run Delicious Library 2 it sends overdue e-mails automatically ," or "next time you run Delicious Library 2 it asks you if you want to send overdue emails," or "your iCal has an alarm that prompts you to send overdue emails?"
I'm not sure what's TOO intrusive. Also, some of these options might require me to install extra software on the user's computer, which would be yucky.
I’m thankful

Ideally? It puts an iCal event onto the calendar for a specific day that will create and launch an email from a (user-modifiable) template...no intervention. I agree about not installing anything; not needed in this case.
No intervention is best (for me) but we'll see how others vote. -
I like the idea - preferably it would be seamless, I like dereks idea of causing ical to send an email. However - I think if you were going to implement this you should allow the user to select options when lending a book/dvd/etc to someone - ie borrowing period, whether to send an email or not bother, etc - I know that I wouldn't want to nag my Mum, for example, to return a book to me - we tend to swap everytime we visit each other, not borrow for a specified amount of time. -
Inappropriate? You can already set the borrowing period, either in iCal or in the app itself. Just set the due date.
-
Is there anyway to change the default due date period? 2 weeks is not ideal for me, it would be nice to set the default to something longer, like a month, so I wouldn't have to change each individually? -
Inappropriate?Unfortunately there isn't a way to change the default loan period right now--you have to change them each by hand. Would you want more options (3 days, 2 weeks, 1 month, etc.) or would it only be useful if you could set it to exactly the amount of time you wanted?
I’m pondering

I think it would work (for me at least) just to have those options - it's not really something that has to be exact, it's just a reminder. -
Inappropriate?Terry - I guess it would be the most flexible if you could input whatever number of days, weeks or months you want, but for speed I think some options such as 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks would be good. :)

Inappropriate?I'd just like the option to manually send an email similar to the current email to friend option, but have it so it has a message like "Hey there, just a reminder that you're borrowing this from me - how are you going with it?". And if it includes a picture that would be great. In fact, I'd love it to be an email per borrower, so that it lists all the things they've borrowed.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? What is the progress on this idea? I'd really love the option to send a form reminder email to people who have books checked out. It could be as simple as a button next to the person that says "send reminder email".
