How do you track shareware in Delicious Library?
How to track shareware software in Delicious Library 2? I just upgraded and saw there was an option to track my software. I added a boxed product (Parallels) and had no problems finding it and adding it to my collection. I then tried adding a shareware program - Delicious Library - and the search said it wasn't found. Kind of ironic, isn't it?
Anyway, is there an easier way to add this stuff other than add a blank entry and then enter in the name of the software?
I'd also like to see a way to add the application icon as the "cover image" to the item.

Inappropriate? You can only automatically add stuff that's sold on Amazon, so I think you'd have to add a blank item for the non-boxed stuff.

Inappropriate?I guess I don't think it's ironic, but, then, I understand that we only use Amazon as a data source, so, yes, you have to add other items by hand.
You can click on your application and hit command-I in the Finder, then click on the icon in the Finder Info window, and hit command-C to copy the image.
Open Preview, hit command-N to create a document from the pasteboard, save as a JPEG (or whatever) to the desktop, and drag that image onto the cover in DL2.
Voila, shareware box.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I knew their had to be a way to get the icon from the application. So far I've had pretty good luck going to the developer's website and just drag 'n drop the application icon from the website to the cover image area.
So far the only case I've found where this didn't work: Journler. Their icon is a link in a div that is styled to have their icon, so when I drag & drop it is trying to copy the link instead of the image itself.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? You may need to look at the source of the HTML page. If using Safari, can also look at Activities window and double click on the asset to open in new browser.

Inappropriate?Since this was in a DIV, I had to snag the URL to the CSS file and get the image URL from that. Like I said, this is the first and so far only application I've run into that I couldn't just do a plain drag 'n drop of the app icon to the cover image area.

Yes, again in the activity view for the Journler homepage, the CSS is an asset, so if you click on that it opens the CSSfile in browser as text. Just copy URL logo file and append to site root.... and voila. Good stuff. I was sure the other week I had it trace in the Developer menu, but cannot remember. Maybe it was firefox and was even easier (eg Tools/Page Info / Media)
