iPhone app feature requests
Ok new iPhone app is fabulous except for a few things:
1) the author creator text field is barely visible in list view, I can barely see the brown text on a darker brown background (in book view mode its set against a more lighter background and in more visible)
2) can we have a text only grid view, 1 item per line as its very hard to differentiate items even in the search view. grid should be sorted and order by (creator/title)
3) Sort by Rating - I cant see any use for this, however some ppl might, for me its not useful at all.
4) Search facility - currently searches on all fields, might this be better to search on the currently selected Creator/Title view rather than all fields.
5) Very long titles - books with such never display the full title, in list view mode, the text is smaller and truncated with ellipses, in item view mode (1 page per item), the text is again smaller, but this time truncated internally in the title.
6) I know the aesthetics of your applications are very important, but the item view is very dark and cramped, it could do with lightening up and reclaiming the screen width lost to the left and right to make it clearer.
7) quick jump list - again a medium to dark grey text on a dark background, barely visible

Inappropriate?Some brilliant points here; I agree with #4 and #7. I'd personally prefer if the text in the grid view was of a uniform size, just because it would look nicer.
Also feel as if the app should work in landscape mode ...
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?* Fast Sync to only transfer changes not repacking entire library
* Ability to zoom images to see detail
* Coverflow/full screen view of items
* Checkout/checkin items with friends
* Ability to edit notes or ratings on iPhone
* Search across whole library not just each category
* Advanced search on different fields
* edit/create smart shelf on iPhone
* View group by genre / subcategory
* Barcode scanning for
- finding item in library
- adding items
- capturing wishlist items
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Since the new camera in the iPhone 3GS is much better than the old one, and specifically allows for macro shots, it would be totally awesome if we could use the camera to scan items into our libraries, rather than having to hold them up to the Mac's iSight (which can be a bit of a pain since you can't move the iSight around).

Use the new camera in the iPhone 3GS to scan items..
I’m excited

this is one of the best points

I think this is a great concept - If it could be done well, the camera would great to do this. You could scan items very quickly if it was fast enough. I'd imagine this could be quicker than using an isight, because of ease of use - you're able to see the barcode in the same line of sight as the camera, and be able to check the barcode is in focus/at the right distance away. It might not be a BT barcode reader, but it could be much quicker than currently. -
There are a variety of free bar code scanner applications available, and I can verify that with the macro mode on the new 3GS there will be no problems reading the codes. Here's hoping we'll see a reader application RSN. Just having the viewer is a fantastic improvement. :) -
The interesting thing is, that from a insurance standpoint, you could take a picture of the product at the same time, enhancing any claim you would make to an insurance company if there was theft of belongings. -
Inappropriate?@StrikerObi, macro on the 3GS looks awesome. Beats the iClarifi case from griffin on the old 3G

Inappropriate?Only 2 things missing from the app as it stands for me (as a Viewer app - obviously adding/editing stuff is different) -
1. Ability to use iPhone new 3.0 copy and paste to get details out of the App and into notes, Mail, etc (especially useful for ISBNs!).
2. Multiple library support - from the UI I assumed once I'd synced to my library, I could then also connect to and sync my girlfriends to have a copy of it *as well* - only it replaced my library with hers instead !
