Our new bluetooth scanner is not connecting after following all the instructions...
We just bought the bluetooth scanner from Delicious library, and we read and followed all the instructions on Mac, and the booklet from the scanner, new batteries and everything.We were able to pair it up with mac although it shows up as some number instead of cordless device. And it does not connect. Please help us!!

If you're having trouble with your Flic or ROV scanner you got from us, try the following steps. We just revamped our scanning code.
The first thing you need to do if you haven't done so already is to install the latest update (2.3.3) which we released last night. This changes how the scanner works and drastically improves the experience (we hope!)
Then go into Bluetooth Preferences in System Preferences and look for your scanner in the left-hand 'devices' column. It should be called 'Cordless', or it will have a long string of numbers and be labelled as a 'Peripheral'.
If you find your scanner in there, remove it using the (-) button.
Then launch Delicious Library 2 and select 'Enable Bluetooth Scanning' from the 'Library' menu in the menu bar. This will bring up a panel which should show a picture of your scanner and will tell you to push the button on the scanner briefly. After this, your scanner will be paired with your computer, and will be ready to scan.

For everyone who isn't able to connect their bluetooth scanner, I apologize! They work great for us, but have been known to be a little finicky at times. The finicky-ness is something we can't necessarily fix (though we are working on something that will kind of patch it up a little bit), but it's something we can certainly help you figure out, and possibly replace if all hope seems lost on the device.
Common fixes for scanners:
Replace batteries. The scanner tends to act up when it gets low on power, instead of completely failing out. After you've done this, reset the scanner.
Return to Factory Defaults Find the manual that came with your scanner, and scan the barcode under the label "Return to Factory Defaults".
Open System Preferences from the Apple menu (top left corner of your monitor), and click on the Bluetooth icon (looks like a blue circle with a jaggedy white thing in it). Then click on the "Devices" tab. If there's a device named "CORDLESS", select this, and delete it. If there *isn't* anything named CORDLESS, then don't worry about it.
Open Delicious Library 2 and choose "Wireless Barcode Scanner" from the Library menu (next to the Apple menu). A window may appear asking you to pair with your scanner-- follow those instructions.
If you do all of this, and the scanner *still* doesn't work, it may be a sad defective scanner, which is something we'll want to replace for you. Terry is the super support person who handles this, so send her message to "support [at] delicious-monster [dot] com" explaining that your scanner simply will not work, and she can set you up to get a new one.
If none of this makes sense to you, or doesn't answer your question, please let me know, and I'll try to answer ASAP!

Inappropriate?Once you have it paired with your mac, you have to go into DL2 and tell it to use the bluetooth scanner-- you can select this option in the menu bar.
Try that out and let me know if it still doesn't work.

Inappropriate?I've got bluetooth scanner problems as well. Submitted detailed help request to delicious monster about a week ago via email, but have received no response other than an autoresponder acknowledgement. Problem appears to be that Delicious Library 2 might be hardcoded to expect the scanner to identify itself as "Cordless" or "Flic Cordless", but the Microvision scanner I got (bought from Delicious) identifies itself via bluetooth as 081103082202.968 instead. Perhaps the hardware vendor has unexpectedly changed behavior? -

It's very frustrating to deal with a company that has no support telephone number and won't respond to email. It seems that my only recourse is going to be to dispute the charge when I get my credit card statement in a few days.

It is definitely frustrating that it's been two weeks since my first request and I haven't seen any response (other than the automatic one). If this is a known issue with a whole batch of scanners, it might be a good idea to put something on the Help page here. Or to send a bulk email to everybody who bought one in the period when the defective ones were going out.

I will contact Terry as the previous post said, but am disappointed bad scanners are still being sent and not tested before shipping.

Jessie - Thanks. The good news is the 2nd one worked like a charm, and the bad one is in the mail. The response time from Terry to get a new one out was less then a week from my original email. I thought that was good.

I'm sorry that the replacement still aren't working for you! Though this is a scanning manufacturing fault, we're working on a way of fixing this issue with our software to get around this issue.

Inappropriate?I run Mac OS X 10.5.6 on my computer. I just bought a bluetooth barcode scanner from you and cannot connect it.
This is what I did: I put new batteries in the scanner (eypiry date 06/2013). When I put them in, I see a green light. After placing the battery compartment lid to its place, I see a blue light (it should be green) and hear a beep. I can find the barcode scanner in the bluetooth pane under the name 080319224131.671. When I start Delicious library 2 and activate barcode scanner nothing happens. What can I do?

I today my second(!) ROV bluetooth scanner arrived. Both work fine under Windows and are discovered on three OSX Leopard and one Tiger Machine. Using 1.6.6 the scanner connects using activate. Under the current Leopard Version (10.5.8) the scanner connects when receiving device details. I bougth another two different bluetooth sticks (Asus an EDIMAX). Still the scanner does not work in DL2.2.
I upgraded one scanner to the latest firmware version, resetted both to factory defaults, took new batteries...
The scanners do not show up as cordless but as 081030134828.312 in the bluetooth connection pane. If i delete the device, its the same behavior, it is the only BT device available.
I waited for minutes to connect under DL2...
Still it wont work (one scanner from german reseller, one directly from Delicious Monster, three bt Sticks, 3 different originals from apple, three different machines.
Is there any further hint - or a known config (scanner firmware) where it is working properly ?

I upgraded to DL 2.2 and it is a NO GO.
It will not even connect.
The button on the bottom left to go from iSight to Scanner DOES NOT SHOW THE SCANNER, just the iSight.

It does NOT work in DL 2.2
From anyones point of view this is a software issue not a hardware issue.
How else can I state this?

It is currently in its beta phase. You are welcome to download the beta and try out your barcode scanner with it.
Let me know if it works/doesn't work, so I can make sure you no longer experience this issue with Delicious Library 2.

I downloaded DL 2.3 Beta and guess what???????
Now I have NO scanner issues.
The DL 2.3 Beta works wonderfully with my Flic BlueTooth.
The only thing I saw in the first 5 seconds was the toggle button in the bottom left corner that says "Toggle Barcode Scanning Window" and has the iSight symbol on it does NOT toggle between the iSight & the Flic Scanner.
It just pops the iSight window up or down and never changes from the iSight symbol to the bluetooth symbol like it did in DL 1.7
I am assuming that function was removed and moved up to the Library drop down menu.
But all said & done the 2.3 Beta solved my Flic Scanner issue.

Like, is it not showing up as a device, is it just not working in DL2, is it not working at all, etc. This information will help me be able to troubleshoot your issue faster!
As for your license, I've forwarded this message onto Terry, our other support person, who handles lost licenses (I would've done it for you, I just don't have that list on my computer-- my apologies). She should get back to you pretty soon with that Delicious Library license code.

Inappropriate?Thanks for addressing this for me. I have a FLIC and am using the new2.3 BETA. No matter what I try, I cant get the scanned barcode to be accepted by DL. I had the same problem before, and someone emailed me a way to get things rolling, but I am in a new MacBook Pro and am back to square one. (Thus, I know the scanner works!!)
I have scanned the return to factory default barcode, I have tried pairing with my mac (Doesn't pair with 0000 and when I use no code it pairs but wont connect) I have tried using it with DL with no pairing, have tried turning scanner off and then on again and all to no avail.
Hope that covers things.

Inappropriate?Paul- Okay. Let me make sure I understand it correctly-- You're able to use the scanner with Delicious Library 2, but once it *beeps* and tries to look up an item, the lookup fails? If I'm totally wrong, just let me know.
If the scanner is showing up in Delicious Library, and appearing to scan items in until the lookup fails, the problem is likely not the scanner. However, I can never be 100% positive about these things!
Have you tried performing lookups by hand? First I'd try searching for an item by title and trying to add an item that way. Next, I'd try the number, specifically from one of the barcodes you've unsuccessfully tried to scan.
If neither work, try this for me: Make sure the clock on your new MacBook Pro is set properly. To do this, go into System Preferences>Time & Date, and check the option to have it track the time automatically. This will ensure that your clock is always set right.
If title work's but barcode number doesn't, it's likely the items you're trying to scan that aren't able to be found on Amazon. Another thing you can try then is to go to www.amazon.com, and try searching for the barcode number there to see if it exists in their database. Sometimes, if an item is on Amazon but won't show up in our program, it's because it's tagged as an item we don't have a category (such as food, or cosmetics). Other times, it's something that simply isn't on Amazon. The most common time to run into this is with older items, and foreign items that aren't sold in any of the Amazon stores.
if both work fine, I guess we will be back to square one with your scanner. But these are some good steps to work now, as I strongly suspect (from what you've told me so far) that the issue isn't actually with the scanner itself.
Let me know if I've gotten anything wrong here, and definitely let me know what the outcome of your searching is. I want to make sure I get you back up and running with scanning items into DL2!

Just received my scanner October 16th and I am able to add scanner to my Mac, but when I open DL it does not accept any scans. I believe I have a bad scanner also. Perhaps if DL has received a bad "batch of scanners" someone could quality test at the home office before sending out to customers which would make everyone's life much easier....? Just a thought. -

If your scanner is able to connect to your Mac, it should work fine in Delicious Library. Just to make sure-- are you running the latest version (2.3)? Do you have Bluetooth Scanner checked under the Library menu?
