ROV scanner not staying connected to computer!
I got a ROV scanner and I can get it to pair with the computer (Leopard 10.5.6) but it will not connect unless I am looking at device details in the bluetooth preferences. So I cannot get DL2 to recognize it. Please help I have lots of stuff to scan! I have deleted it from bluetooth preferences and re-added it, and I have reset it with the barcodes in the manual. I have updated the firmware, and tried everything in the other threads that has been suggested.

Inappropriate? Here is some more information regarding my problem. Being somewhat of a technical person and familiar with troubleshooting process I took the scanner to work where I have a mac mini with a similar setup as I have at home. I downloaded the trial version of DL2, used the bluetooth connection assistant to connect the scanner, opened DL2, selected the scanner in the software, and it worked perfectly. I was able to scan items and DL looked them up and added them to the library. On the Mac mini the only things I have bluetooth profiles for are my phone and my palm. At home where I want to use this I have bluetooth profiles for my phone, palm, mouse and macbook. I can get the scanner to pair only right after I login to my account. If I wait to long it will not pair. Once paired, I cannot get it to connect unless I am browsing its profile, at which point it will connect, download the profile, and disconnect. It seems to me that one of my bluetooth profiles at home must be interfering with the scanner. Any suggestions? I would prefer to keep all of my bluetooth profiles, and given that the palm and phone are on both computers, it would seem that the issue is with either the mouse or macbook profile. However, I do not know how computers manage bluetooth profiles, so I imagine it is possible that any of the four profiles could be suspect. I look forward to hearing from you and thanks in advance for your help.

Inappropriate?Christopher- if the issue happens on one computer but not the other, I tend to think it's some strange problem on your home computer that is causing it to forget the scanner. Are you able to remove and then re-add your bluetooth profiles to see if that helps any?

Inappropriate?Jessie, I have this problem also. I have no bluetooth profiles setup at all and the bluetooth device is paired but not connected with MacOS X 10.5.7. Like the original posted, I can get it to connect only enough to update the status dates in the system preferences pane. It does not stay connected or transfer scanned books in any way.

Inappropriate? Not easily. What protocol is this supposed to use? Modem or RS-232? Spp Service? Are there other advanced settings we should verify?
-
Inappropriate?@Christopher,
There are some incompatibilities between some bluetooth mice and the scanners. If you disconnect the mouse will it pair and operate correctly?
What kind of mouse is it?
@Murray,
Have you tried scanning the reset barcode in the scanner QuickStart manual?
The scanners come with the old RS-232 cables, which are all but obsolete on modern Macs. Because of this we remove them from the box to make shipping a little cheaper and prevent confusion (we were getting a ton of support questions from people trying to figure out how to plug in the old cable.) You can buy an USB cable from Microvision to update the firmware, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Inappropriate?Yes I have tried reseting and all the other troubleshooting steps on the quickstart guide but it doesn't help.
Another thread on this forum that correctly functioning scanners will show up as 'Cordless' in the MacOS X bluetooth pane, and broken ones will show up as something like "081101125904.625".
Mine shows up as a long number like the latter, which I believe explains why DL2 can't communicate with it. This really needs to be on the troubleshooting guide which is quite spartan and doesn't have any detailed information on it.
Can I send back this unit for a replacement? Can you confirm the answers provided on the other threads about similar problems are correct and that the device should show up as 'Cordless' in the bluetooth pane or the bluetooth chip on it is defective?

Inappropriate?I'm liking this thread as somehow epitomizes my problem. I have a FLIC, not a ROV, and on Leopard and with the latest Delicious Liobrary update the sucker scans but disconnects every 15 seconds ... not very convenient if you ask me. The terrible things is Delicious maybe will state it is not their fault, Apple doesn't give shit about what 0,005% of their user experience and Microvision states that the FLIC is old and one should upgrade to ROV, the new name of the old FLIC.
Has anyone been able to catch this 22 :-) ????
Let's post each other experiences so that maybe we'll find a way to overcome the problem.

Inappropriate?Francesco- Please refer to this thread for some more troubleshooting options with your scanner. The scanners come with a one year warranty, but outside of that we aren't able to do anything as far as replacements are involved =\
