Unable to Publish to MobileMe with Version 2.3.2

Try version 2.3. I restored it from time machine and was able to publish. If you have a problem with the Publish button at the bottom of the window, try the File menu/Publishing Setup & Publish to MobileMe options.

Nope, doesn't work. The latest version before that was 2.1.1. Obviously I hadn't updated for ages. :(

I found that with DL2 version 2.3 and MacOS X 10.6.2 I could publish both to MobileMe and to my iDisk Documents folder, however, it required TWO steps. Start up DL2, click on the Publish button, select Configure, make your choices, then click on the Publish Now button. DL2 will crash, BUT the settings you made are saved. Restart DL2, click on the Publish button, and select Publish Now without making any more changes. This worked for me.

After that finished publishing, I went back and made different settings choices for my second publishing adventure. I didn't try simply quitting DL2 after changing the publishing settings, then restarting DL2 to click directly on the Publish Now button, but that might also work, rather than forcing DL2 to crash attempting to immediately publish after making settings changes.

When selecting "Configure", nothing happens. So I can't make any choices. Still, the data is on my iDisk, sitting inside the Sites folder - obviously I can publish my changes to the right directory. But how do I point people towards this site? I don't know the URL, as DL2 still points me to the discontinued URL http://homepage.mac.com/username/deli...

My working URL is similar, except that it ends in index.html:

If the Publish button doesn't work in 2.3, try the File menu Publishing Setup... option to configure your publication options, then the File menu Publish to MobileMe.

If you can't publish to MobileMe using the DL2 options, try just publishing to a folder on your local hard disk instead. The Sites folder is just a folder on your iDisk reserved for this public availability, so you could manually copy the updated web site from your local folder to your Sites folder and let iDisk syncing push it up to the MobileMe servers. (Be sure to copy the Sites folder contents to another place on your local hard disk to have a backup if the manual effort blows up.) I did this in September when 2.3 didn't seem to work (failed connecting to MobileMe from within DL2 - it turned out to be an Apple change that they fixed quietly later in the month), but I could access the Sites folder just fine through my iDisk.

I'd also assure you've backed up your DL2 database using the Backup option in the File menu to assure playing around with the application itself doesn't damage your data (it shouldn't, but it's too important to risk). It will save your db to your local UserName/Documents/Personal Backups folder.

Since my DL2 version 2.3 is sort-of working, and yours isn't, I'd also try a clean build of DL2 version 2.3. Leave the stuff alone in ~/Library/Application Support, ~/Library/Caches, and ~/Library/Preferences to permit the rebuilt application to access exactly the same common files as the misbehaving application copy. The application is modular, discrete from the support files it created on in your ~/Library folder, so trying a different copy of the application shouldn't affect your support files (until your get a working copy and can actually get it to change those files, of course).

If I do that, the application just crashes. I'll try the reinstall.

(For some reason, my iDisk folder is empty and I'm in the midst of rebuilding my Library, so I can't troubleshoot this fully right now.)

Gero - DL2 version 2.3 w/MacOS X 10.6.2 is working for me at the moment.

Try moving your two preferences at ~/Library/Preferences/com.delicious-monster.library2.plist & com.delicious-monster.library2.LSSharedFileList.plist to the Desktop, starting up DL2 again to see if that helps. If not, delete the two default preferences it created, and put the two preferences plists you copied to the Desktop back.

I have the same problem, but it does publish. I just can't change any settings. It crashes every time I try to change publish settings. :(

Hmm. Judging from this and another thread, I expected horrible, flaming death when I clicked on the grey Publish button, but it configured as it should, then quietly published to .mac, surprisingly quickly.

So...can anyone else confirm 2.3.3 beta 3 (v11679) (say that 15 times fast) is working okay for them?

I think part of it is because I'm an olde-tyme iTools user.

Does Delicious ever reply here? It doesn't appear they're very responsive. I've sent in emails, too, with no reply. :(

Still: When clicking "Go to Website", it tries to connect to
http://homepage.mac.com/USERNAME/deli... (which doesn't exist anymore).

I published successfully today using DL2 v2.3.3 and MacOS X 10.6.2, both locally to my iDisk (which syncs among all my Macs) and remotely to MobileMe (to my iDisk Sites folder) for direct access with my iPhone. No issues at all.

What happens if you click "Visit Website" from the File menu? I get a homepage.mac.com error.

The Visit Website option doesn't work. On my copy, nothing happens.

In my iDisk/Sites folder, there's a subfolder named deliciouslibrary which contains my MobileMe published site.
