Unable to scan in version 2 using external DV (works in version 1)
I have downloaded version 1 and version 2 of the software. I have PPC iMac G5 with no built-in camera and OSX 10.5.6 installed. The external firewire camera connected that works with iChat.
Version 1 of Library works as described, whereas Library 2 does not seem to detect the camera and therefore scan bar codes. I have manually opened the camera window via the menu and all it shows is black window with two rectangles (I assume is used to line up the bar codes).
Is the fact that I am running in demo mode cause the issue?
Any ideas?

Inappropriate?Demo mode won't affect the scanning, its only limitation is the number of items you can enter into your library (25.) The green boxes are to line up barcodes, but you should have a video feed, not just a black window.
It's possible you need a third-party driver, there are some scanners that worked with Version 1, that no longer work in Version 2 without the driver.
I think http://serialio.com has one that's free. Sorry for the trouble.

Inappropriate?Okay. The webpage appears to have drivers for scanners, whereas I am using DV Cameras (Panasonic Min DV and a Sharp DV). I am puzzled that the cameras both work with iChat, Library 1.x but not Library 2.x (or photobooth).
I have attempted to fix permissions, removed .plist files for iChat, library 1 &2, and have even reinstalled iChat. I am about to reinstall InstantMessage and VideoConfernece frameworks (suggested by Apple) so fingers crossed.
So I guess my only options are use Version 1.x of the software or purchase of a "scanner" and Version 2 of the software (but now I am worried that the scanner wont work).
Anyway thanks for the suggestion and help (even though I haven't purchased the software).

Inappropriate?I have it working. Required a clean install format HD, install OS, restore user (ignor apps) fix permissions etc and Library 2 now working.
