Defective Dell Battery
The Battery died on my Dell xps m1210. I have used the battery function less than six hours since I purchased the lap top. I am told that I have to buy a new battery for over three hundred dollars.
I am six months past the warranty however it is clear that I received a defective battery and the cost of replacing that defective battery is being downloaded onto me. Dell makes a good product and has a good reputation for reliability so I am very surprised that they don't see the obvious. What should I do please?

Inappropriate?I dunno man, I didn't even test my battery for the longest time... and now I'm finding out it's basically junk. Shouldn't a 9-cell battery advertised for 7 hrs at least give me 70 min just 12 months after purchase? (Most of the time this laptop has just been plugged in sitting on a desk) I'm quite upset... at least the battery is not starting a fire! - http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/pr...

Inappropriate?I have the same problem with an XPS M1710 and with my previous Dell inspiron.
On my inspiron, the battery was replaced through the free scheme when Dell's started exploding but this battery has NEVER held a charge and they refused to replace that one.
My M1710 is about 18 months old and has just announced (with no warning) that i need to replace my battery. I rarely use the battery as i keep it plugged in.
Is it just that Dell batteries suck?
I’m irritated
