Inappropriate?Totally random suggestion, but have you tried the following?:
Remove the Hard drive (usually two screws on the bottom, near a label that reads "Strike Zone", and are flush mounted unlike the rest of the screws), remove the CD-Rom drive (inch wide button on the bottom right of the CD tray itself - press it, then pull the drive), and remove the battery. Plug in the AC Adapter, make sure the light on the charger 'brick' is green.
As long as it's green, hold the blue 'Fn' key on the keyboard, then press power. Keep an eye on the Caps Lock, Num Lock, and Scroll Lock lights. Ideally, if anything happens, you'll get lights there in a pattern.
Also, to be fair, I had a look on the support.dell.com site for that unit that you listed, and you only had a one year depot contract, as well as that system no longer ships. The farther out of shipping status something is, the harder it is to get parts, usually. :(
I’m quite neutral

Inappropriate?I had the similar problem. But I found it works better after I spray with contact cleaner on the micro switch underneath the power button. Yes, I take off the power button cover plastic.
However, It will be getting the same problem again after a day or so looking as if the something wrong at the contact at the micro switch.
Any idea??

Inappropriate?me too-tried the remove HDD/CDROM, held FN and turned on. Saw all three LEDs light up, then just the shift, followed by the "A" LED flashing for about ten seconds.
