Dell Data Safe fails.

I've backed up all of my files and taken computer back to original because of a problem. now i get "data safe online has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working . windows will close the program and notify if a solution is avialable. WHAT DO THEY MEAN IF IF IF A SOLUTION IS AVAILABLE??????

I used the pre-installed version on my new Dell Studio 1737 until today when it advised me to donwload a new version. Once I downloaded and installed the new version, it will not run. All I get is an immedate error message and program closes!!!

Same problem. After being hectored for weeks to upgrade to a new version, I finally did last night (1.1.0027, the latest) and it immediately "stopped working" when I tried to run a backup. Windows is supposed to "inform me of a solution" - good luck with that! I am unable to get through to Dell support in any medium (phone, chat, email or whatever). This wouldn't be a huge issue except (1) I just paid for a full year of storage and (2) all my private data is out there.

I have the same problem. Updated to latest version of Dell Datasafe and I get the immediate message when I try to run it: Dell DataSafe Online has stopped working. I can find no solution on Dell help screens. I'd be grateful for any advice. Neil

Somebody has to ask the obvious question here so it might as well be me. Can any of you not revert to the previous version of Data Safe (either by manually uninstalling the new version and reinstalling the prior one or by running system restore) and just continue using that one?

Well, that's the funny thing on mine. I never update my computer. I bought it, put it together and I was getting that messege from the moment it started up.

I started getting the "fail to connect" after ugrading to Windows 7. Very annoying. I just want to know if I can just uninstall Data Safe, period. The message just won't go away.

After restoring my pc to factory default (Thanks Vista service Pack 2). I have been trying to get my 18GB of data back from Dell DataSafe Online. In 5 days/nights and 8 tech support calls complaining of the issue I have restored a whopping 1GB. All my photos and Music are in Dell HELL. I get 1 album for 10 times of trying a night. The restore servers are horrible. They time out during the restore session both in the web interface and on my PC. Their tech support is horrible and DataSafe is a POS.

I have written the Consumer Advocacy Board of America and told them all your problems here and mine. I told Dell to burn me a DVD and mail it to my house 18GB is not that much. They'll get back to be in 3 business days.
Do yourselves a favor. Dump Datasafe and go to Mozy or any of the other online back up companies. That is where I am going if I ever get my data back.

Thanks that was not working either. I had to call tech support for a week and finally complain to corporate. They are resetting my restore point. They are mailing me a copy of my data. I have managed to restore some files this evening. 3 more GB back. about 12 more to go.
