Dell Inspiron 1525 entering Sleep while using computer
My new Dell Inspiron 1525 appears to go into Sleep mode while I am using the computer, eg. while chatting on the internet (the computer is definately not inactive - it just happened while typing this message!) I have to close the lid and open it again and it returns to what i was doing. I know this must have to do with a power mode as when it first happened it used to ask for my password. I have since changed the option "Require password on wakeup" in advanced power settings to "No". This problem only happens sometimes but when it does happen it keeps doing it every few minutes until I restart the computer. What do I do??

Inappropriate?I am having this same issue. My Inspiron 1525 will go into sleep mode when I am in the middle of work. Typically, it happens when I am typing, however, I could be in a Word doc, on Outlook, or on the internet in one of my school's classroom platforms. It's extremely frustrating (I've learned to save every 2-3 minutes!) Did you ever get an answer to this question?
I’m very frustrated

Inappropriate?I never received a reply but I did find a solution for my case. First I fiddled with the power settings (by clicking on the battery icon and changing settings in power options) this seemed to help for a little while but then it happened again when I was typing. I then realised that I was wearing a magnetic bracelet (which I often do when I type), and whenever i put it near the screen it turned off. So now I make sure not to wear it when using the computer and I haven ?t had the problem since. The only other time this has happened was when I used my laptop near a very large wind tunnel, so I can only guess that the Inspiron is very sensitive to magnetic fields. So my advice to you would be not to use it near speakers, a tv or anything that might have a magnetic field. Hope this helps. I would be very interested to know if this fixes the problem for you too.

Inappropriate? My friend was having a similar problem with her inspiron, i asked her if she was wearing a magnetic bracelet and sure enough she was. She took it off and it stopped going to sleep, so it appears that magnetic fields do have an effect upon the inspiron.

Inappropriate? No way!! This also fixed my GFs inspiron shutdown problem!! Well done.
I think the lid has a magnet in it. When you close the lid, a magnetic pickup sensor next to the touchpad must detect the magnet and go into standby, a bit like door/window alarm contacts. The laptop must think the bracelet is the lid!!. Classic

Inappropriate?I am having same problem as I wear a magnetic bracelet as well. I am testing this theory as well. I put it next to the screen and it immediatley went to sleep.. Now I am working with out it and so far so good. Thanks, and hope this works as I was ready to throw it out the window on the highway..
