dell m1330 battery dead
I bought a Dell XPS M1330 laptop in September of 2007, and two weeks after the one year warranty expired (September of 2008) I received a notice that my battery was reaching the end of its usable life. I clicked on the suggested bubble that popped up (in the bottom right of the screen next to the clock). I am a graduate student with very little money, and I even applied my student discount to the replacement battery. All-in-all, the only solution that was offered to me was to purchase an equivalent battery for $150! This is my first non-Apple computer, and it makes me want to never buy another Dell! The battery was clearly designed to fail just beyond the coverage of the warranty, and that really makes me mad.
At the time of purchase I had complete confidence in this product. Now my laptop has been functionally reduced to a desktop; within one year! I feel as though Dell has completely misrepresented the quality of their product. I understand that battery technology (my roommate is an engineering graduate student), but this is unacceptable and well below industry standard.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Inappropriate? One year battery warranty is industry standard. Can you post your service tag, please? I will have a look and request a warranty exception on your behalf.

Bill, I am experiencing this same problem, if there is any way that you could assist me with it like you have previously done so for the initial customer, please let me know. My case number is 626892457. -
Hello
I received a dell xps m1330 almost 2 months ago as a warranty-issued replacement. My computer recognizes the AC adapter, but says the battery is not charging. In addition, when I turn the computer on or restart an error comes up saying that the battery is not recognized. Is there anything that can be done even though I am outside of my warranty? Are there warranties on individual parts that have to be honored despite the warranty for the overall system? I feel like there has to be some sort of customer protection for stuff like this. I am looking for any help possible seeing as I am a graduate student 160K in debt.

Thanks and best.

Dear Bill: Please take into consideration my issue about my XPS M1330. My battery has died only after receiving my laptop for a little over a year. It can not charge itself, so my laptop has basically turned into a desktop for I need to bring my AC adapter everywhere. To make matters worse, this had to happen the week before finals week (when final note taking was vital), for I am an undergraduate student. The battery issue not only caused me great disappointment in the quality of my Dell product, but it obviously put unnecessary hassles into my schedule as a college student who attempted to purchase an efficient laptop. In addition to the battery issue, another issue appeared, this time during finals week. My laptop keyboard and touch pad somehow became impaired, for I can not type nor scroll around efficiently because both products lag or shutter (i.e. it takes 3-4 hits of 1 key for that key to appear on the screen)! Of course essays are due for finals, so I almost thought I was in deep trouble until I was luckily able to borrow a wireless keyboard and mouse to use. They are currently shipping various parts to replace my existing laptop parts, basically replacing refurbished parts into my only barely over a year old laptop. And of course no warranty covers my battery, which they've told me to purchase out of my pocket (for an undergraduate student, this is not too easy). After this experience, I vowed to myself that I may never trust in purchasing any Dell products again, for the price I paid (over $1000) does not pair it's efficiency. I mean, the issues related to my laptop breaking down over a year of basic use, makes the laptop almost nonfunctional in the most basic terms. Your assistance would be appreciated. Bill, you sent me this 3 days ago but still no battery, maybe cos Christmas Time?

Hi Bill, where did you sent the battery?, because I haven't received it. -
Hey guys I hope you can help, I bought a Dell Xps M1330 laptop in August 2007 for school and I never had a problem until July when my graphics card started to fail. I did get it serviced and was very satisfied by DELL's quick service. But two months later, I kept getting warnings saying that my battery was nearing its lifetime and now I cant even use my computer unless it is plugged in. My warranty is now expired and I dont really have the money to buy a new battery as its already hard for me to even buy food...+ pay for school. I don't know what to do, because I need my laptop for class and projects and hate being stuck using the Library computers at school. My friend told me about this site so I hope this can help me.
My service tag number is 8F0XHD1, im really desperate for help right now because midterms are in 3 weeks :S -
Hi! I have a similar issue. I purchased an XPS M1330 on 24-04-2008. Since May-08-2009, just two weeks after the expiry of battery warranty, I have the same issue that others here have reported. The computer says that the battery has reached the end of its usable life. I have contacted Dell support, but since I am *just* out of warranty, they have refused to help. My customer case number is 641020807 and service taq number is 4MJB4G1. I would be glad it you can help out with this. I have been using an inspiron 700m for the last 3 years without a significant drop in battery life. So, it's rather disappointing to watch the XPS battery go, just in 54 weeks! I have also had the issue with the graphics card. which was rectified by a motherboard replacement in November. While I absolutely love my XPS and have even recommended it to friends, these issues are really disappointing. I hope the customer service compensates for these product issues. the battery one being the most significant product quality issue.
I would be really glad if a warranty exception could be requested for my case, since I am only just out of warranty period. I still have about a year's warranty on my XPS though, although I guess it unfortunately does not cover the battery. I am quite desperate to have my laptop back in working condition, so I would be grateful if you can help. -
Dell are fully aware of the problem.. Its on all the forums now about these batteries.. Dell still has no solution for my 1 week out of warrenty issue.. 2 yrs left on the lappy, but no more battery... For a 3500$ machine and for extended warranty, the battery SHOULD be included since i did have to pay for the extended warranty.. Battery was 1 year and the machine was 1 year.. I paid for 3.. Battery was NOT mentioned in the exclusions at the time of order.. -
I bought a dell m1330 last October and this October my battery failed. Also I have had my motherboard replaced 3 times and my video card has failed yet again. I love my computer but now it is getting inconvenient to use from the screen going blank and the computer totally fuzzing. I am not happy with Dell's quality with this computer. I can not afford to buy a new battery and motherboard, Dell needs to get with it and make their products more reliable. -

Inappropriate?Wow, thank you very much! I appreciate this a lot! I have been looking to buy a desktop computer soon, and I had my eyes set on Dell, but I was feeling a little wary lately. This makes me comfortable with buying from Dell again. They really stand behind their products.

Glad to help. I guess a warranty is a warranty, but a failing battery 2 weeks out of warranty is a tough pill to swallow. I would hate to lose future business over 2 weeks. Thanks for sticking with us, and let me know if you need any assistance finding the right desktop for your needs. I'll shoot ya straight. -
Shamefully, a lot of pills are being swallowed.. a lot of people are having probs with batteries dying after a week or so, and nothing is being done except for a select few.. Now thats a good way to kill business.. -
Inappropriate?Bill, the battery arrived, and everything works great. I just sent back the old one. Thanks for everything. I definitely remain a satisfied Dell customer!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I have had exactly the same problem. My warrenty ran out two weeks ago and my battery failed one week ago. It displayed the same signs as yours, I am now confied to using my computer at my desk and not being able to move it easily from one place to another. I too am a postgraduate student and ease of movement is always an essential requirement in my work so this failure just days outside my warrenty period is just annoying. I have experienced so many problems with this XPS that I have vowed never again to buy a Dell computer. With the price tag that comes with it, I would have expected some quality product but all I got was problem after problem. This is unfortunate as I am the owner of a Dell inspiron that is now 5 to 6 years old and still going strong.

Inappropriate?Really annoying, a week after the warranty and the battery goes, too many examples on here of this problem, seems really suspicious!!!! Not a happy customer as I've already had the motherboard replaced due to a graphics problem. Just been told that I have to buy a new battery, I was looking at buying addition Dell laptops but now I'm looking at other brands, don't think Dell can be trusted in making a trustworthy laptop!!!!
-
Inappropriate?I'm very surprised to see that I'm not the only one with this problem I did reply above about my warrenty running out and a week later the battery died. I think there is some suspicious money making racket going on here. My computer cant even play games!!! It simply goes to a blank screen and of course Dell staff hadn't a clue why that was. I'll never buy a dell again and i'll certainly tell my work collegues, family and friends to stay well clear of these useless computers. If a company has so many problems with a product and expects their users to continue to purchase replacements because they had originally put cheap materials into their computer then they dont deserve to remain in business. Very very bad indeed. I understand that people on here have been given replacements which some would view as being good customer service but its no more then a company admitting fault for using trash in their product if they are willing to give out new batteries outside their warrenty.
I'll never buy a Dell again, and i've been a customer for 6 years! -

Inappropriate?I just had this same problem now too! I have had my 1330 for exactly 1 year and 2 days and now the battery is dead. No slow decrease in performance no warning whatsoever. It went from perfectly fine to unusable overnight. Is there any way that I can get some assistance with this? This is my 3rd Dell laptop in 6 years (600m and a 9300) and none of the batteries have had a problem (including extended batteries) until this one.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Similar problem - just turned on ym laptop to find out that "no battery can be detected" message appered in the bottom right hand corner when the battery is attached to the back of the laptop and was working (fully charged ) yesterday. I phoned up dell but ended up speaking with someone only prepared to offer me new hardware parts beacause my warrenty had run out by 3 weeks . I was wandering if anyone has heard of this problem and if so is there a way of solving it without spending the two hundred and twenty seven pounds i was quoted from dell.
-
Inappropriate?Yes Math77 there is one way to rectify this problem with the dell battery, Go outside and stamp on your computer because without a doubt its the worst computer ever built. Just remember to never buy a Dell again and focus on companies who do not manufacture components that are designed to fail outside your warrenty window. I wonder how many 3 year warrenty dell M1330 owners have experienced this same problem???? I doubt as many as us 1 year warrenty people!
Its a Scam. They're trying to make as much money as they can...And from the sounds of it...these batteries are designed to fail after your warrenty is up! -
Inappropriate?Hey guys,
I just turned on my laptop today morning (Dell m1330), and it says "No Battery detected". What the hell? I've had this m1330 since August 2007. Working fine until now. Can I get a new battery? My old one was quite bad as well, would not last very long at all.

Inappropriate?Hi guys,
Yesterday my m1330 battery was like new (16% wear), today I see a red blanking battery light and a message: "Your battery has experienced a permanent failure and needs to be replaced". I have the 3yrs extended warranty but my computer is today 1yr and 10 days old!!! This is incredible... Well, on monday I'll call Dell support to see what they say. I live in Spain, no support over the weekend. :( -
Inappropriate?Same issue, Bought mine in Oct 2007, and now there is a message that says "No battery detected" which is odd because the battery is attached. If the battery has reached the end of its life it should just say that!...instead it says no battery detected which is confusing. I used to buy Sony's but decided to try Dell and have concluded that Dell's are pieces of CRAP, never again!
-
Inappropriate?I have the same response "Your battery has experienced a permanent failure and needs to be replaced". HUH? I just got this laptop for my daughter last month! It's a Inspirion 1318. What should I do? It works when it's plugged in but not with just the battery in it. It won't even turn on. Help!
-
Inappropriate?Nancy, if its NEW, then there is a 1 yr warranty on the battery. If you purchased the laptop used then you just need to buy a new battery, if you buy the Dell brand batteries on dell.com then do a search online for a coupon code.
-
Inappropriate?Call, Dell! I was 10 days off the 1yr battery warranty but they still sent me a replacement battery. Way to go Dell!
-
Called Dell today and although it took about an hour on the phone and a remote hook up by the tech. they are sending me a new battery. It is under a 1yr warranty. Thank God! -
Inappropriate?Bill,
I'm having the same problem with my XPS 1330 as Che, above. Just within the year of the warranty, the video card failed and Dell did a fantastic job replacing the motherboard in a timely manner. Since then, however, the battery has progressively stopped working and for the last month and a half, it won't hold a charge at all. On top of it all, the power adapter doesn't quite fit into the laptop perfectly. I'm not sure whether thats even an issue, but now that the battery has absolutely no life, even the slightest jostle will turn my laptop off. I was looking at other forums and some suggest a known soldering issue with the replacement motherboard? If there's anything you can do to help, that would be fantastic.
Thanks so much.
Richard

Inappropriate?Hi Bill,
after spending the last our talking to a Dell guy on the phone, I found this thread and it gave me a bit of hope.
My Problem is similar to all the others. I had my XPS for 14 months. A few days ago I got a message from my Ubuntu, telling me that my battery was running on a maximum of 48%. It's kind of hard to believe that it lost 52% in the last 2 Months, but I suppose I should have checked earlier. I'am also a student and 140€ is a lot of money for me. (Yes, it's €, I'm from Europe) ... maybe you can't even help me because I'm not in the US, still I would be very thankfull if you try. I still think the m1330 is a great laptop, except for the nvidia, which, as well as many others, I had replaced after a few months.

thanks,

Inappropriate?hi i bought a dell xps m1530 a just over a year ago. march 2008 and in just over a year 5 days back the battery decided to die on me just past the warranty. it doesnt charge past 8%. and when i plug in the adaptor it says plugged in, not charging. i feel like i have been ripped off because normally batteries dont die just out of the warranty

Inappropriate?Yes. I also have the SAME problem as you. - I purchased my Dell Inspiron M1330 in April of last year. About 2-3 weeks ago I began getting the same message as you and just yesterday the battery died. I have had other Dell computers and have not had this problem. I am furious as it seems that this is a ploy to make you spend $149 (starting price) for a new battery. Batteries on laptops usually last years though they tend to lose their charge retention time as they get older.
But I have never seen batteries that die within the year and where the manufacturer begins warning you a couple of weeks before. I suspect that Dell has a program to disable the battery after a certain period of time.
This is horrible that Dell would use this ploy to squeeze more money out of its customers. I have not abused the battery (rarely use the laptop without it being plugged to a power source) and have not abused the laptop.
I'm going to call the Dept of Consumer Affairs to report this problem.
I’m Angry
-
Inappropriate? My take is that everyone should file a complaint with Dell and with the Department of Consumer Affairs in their state and/or city.

Inappropriate?Seems to be as late as April 2008.. My battery died 1 week after warrenty on my m1730. Machine was built April 2008, got it 3rd week of April.. Batery died May 3rd, 2009.. XPS Priority support in Canada says "Too bad.. Out of warranty" Haha.. Spent $3500 on a XPS m1750, not $500 on an Inspiron.. Never again!

Inappropriate?Yup, I have the Inspiron e1505, and I just got the same "Permanent battery failure" message after 3 years of usage. This same laptop crashed within the first year that I used it, and also needed a cd-drive replacement within the warranty year. What is this, can I not keep a laptop for more than 3 years without replacing every single part?
Also, complete agreement on the expensive battery replacement, I am a college undergrad and it looks like I will be using my laptop as a desktop from now on.
I’m terribly annoyed
-
Inappropriate?I have this issue as well. I have a m1330. My battery just died. It was good and all of a sudden the same issue in ow have. It doest even detect i have a battery, it wont charge it. I dont know what to do. I obvoiusly need a new battery but dell wont help me.
-
Inappropriate?yea um.. all I can say is FUCK DELL. Never buying from them again. I am a student and don't got $100 to dish to them every year. Motherboard replaced twice, touchpad and case replaced once, then my battery goes and dies out on me. Kinda sad that so many people have this problem. Smells like a scam. Looks like my next comp will be custom built or some other reliable company. Good job Dell.
-
Inappropriate? My service tag is 8W8YCF1 just to prove that I even have extended warranty. My uncle is thinking about a Dell netbook but I'm gonna have to advise him otherwise. Sounds like the computer is rigged to die after a year. Got this computer from my parents to last for high school and now I gotta save and buy a new computer to take to school.
-
Inappropriate? My service tag is 7NG3KD1 and the exact same thing happened to me too!. My wife's Mac and my work laptop IBM's batteries last for 4 years and counting!
It cost $165 to replace just the battery while a brand new netbook now only cost $400. This is absolutely ridiculous. I think we should all fill complains to some kind of consumer agency about this. I mean, sure, I've had the laptop for a bout 1.5 years and I expect battery to degrade a bit... but not completely dead!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? This has happened to me as well. I am not very happy due to the fact that I JUST got it back from Dell today. They had to replace my motherboard (which I was told happened to all of these laptops so it is a common xps m1330 problem) and that it why I sent it in. The issue is that the battery worked perfect before I sent it to them and now it refuses to charge. I'm very unhappy about this. I can't afford a 150 buck battery!
I’m beyond frustrated!
-
Inappropriate?I had exactly the same problem. After a year and a couple of weeks i got the message that the battery was reaching the end of its usable life. Now, it's dead and i have to pay 150 dls to get a new one, which i won't do. So, my laptop turned into a desktop. Also, my motherboard has been replaced twice in a year and 2 months. I will switch to Apple. Dell is not reliable, at least XPS1330.
I’m pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Inappropriate?I bought my m1330 in March of 2008. From day one the speakers crackled, the firewire port did not work, and it got really hot. In March of this year the battery died. Shortly after that I needed to use the firewire (which I didn't have to use before) and decided to get the speakers looked at too, and the heat issue.
Nothing was done for my battery problem.
Technician came and replaced speakers, and fixed firewire.
Firewire works, speakers still crackle, and laptop still gets hot.
Still wouldn't do anything for my dead battery. I was a few weeks late on reporting a battery that died during the ONE year warranty on the battery and I still couldn't get it replaced.
I have a 3 year, in house, next business day warranty on a laptop that has had problems since out of the box...and most of the problems I mentioned are reported by a lot of people.
But still, a few weeks shy of reporting a dead battery...that can't get replaced.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?DO NOT BUY ANOTHER DELL BATTERY.
My battery also died a few weeks out of warranty. After going through a tired song-and-dance with tech support about how ridiculous this is (and having them respond that, of course my battery would immediately fail out of warranty, am I an idiot or something!?), I was basically informed that I would have to shell out another $130-$160 for a new battery. WELL.
So, I went to BestBuy.com and bought a Lenmar battery direct from Lenmar. It was a 9-cell, and it was only $129 (as opposed to $159 on the Dell site). They also have a 1-year warranty, and you know what? Even if it only lasts a year and two weeks, I'll have been happy NOT TO HAVE SENT ANY MORE MONEY TO THE CROOKS AT DELL!
I highly recommend all of you do the same, and keep that old Dell battery. I have a feeling it's going to be involved in a class action suit pretty soon.
I’m SICK OF DELL
-
Inappropriate?Oh, on second glance, the battery I got from Lenmar was $129.00, and it's the same battery Dell charges $179.99 for!!!
Yeah, Dell is really pulling a fast one, here.
I’m tremendously angry at Dell
-
Inappropriate?great for me but seems like everyone has this darn problem, someone suggested a petition in the other post, i agree cause now they are aware certainly with all these posts up here and im sure they review them; and so they are still sell them and not offering free replacements,... someone needs to do something!!!! jacquelene21@yahoo.com

Inappropriate?I have the same problem with my M1330 battery. Dell sucks! I will never buy another product from them. Since I bought this laptop the motherboard, the biometric reader and the LCD screen had to be replaced. On top of that the extended warranty I bought didn't cover the battery failure. I will report Dell to the Better Business Bureau. I can't believe Dell stands behind such lousy product.
I’m pissed
-
Inappropriate?Around 2 weeks ago my m1330 gave a message that the battery was reaching the end of its usable life. The warranty on my battery expired in June 23 2008. I finally got the time to call Dell today July 27 2009 and was told that it has been more than a month since the warranty expired and they would not send me the replacement battery. So I asked her if I had called last week which would be just under a month since the warranty expired, would I have gotten the battery? She said yes. Basically I have to pay an additional $230 because I called 4 days too late.
Clearly, Dell is willing to replace the battery because they know customers are getting pissed off that the battery reduces in performance immediately after the warranty expires. It is hard not to see this as an intentional ploy to get their customers to shell out money every year. My 9 cell battery now only runs for 1 & a half hours max after just a year's usage. If there is any employee who recognises how rampant this problem is, please help to remedy this atrocity. Service tag: HG2KW1S
I’m extremely upset
-
Inappropriate?I will just say this, i bought my 1330 in early august 2007, paid over $200 for a three year COMPLETE CARE warranty on my machine with a 6 cell battery, by late September 2008 my battery was dead and I was told that a new one would be like $160. Dell rates their batteries as a 3 year life span but all of ours last just over a year, thats BS. There are forums all over the internet just like this, there is definitely a problem with the design and construction of the m1330 battery and dell is unwilling to take responsibility of it. I guess if our batteries had caught fire instead of just prematurely dying they would have a recall but it looks like we are SOL. Also, just in april my ac adapter failed but dell atleast replaced that. I would think they would realize its cheaper to keep a customer than it is to get a new one.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Dell-Bill_B, i had a faulty motherboard and just got that replaced yesterday. Ironically, all of a sudden, I'm getting this message that my battery is reaching the end of its usable life. I still have warranty on my laptop because i extended it due to all the video issues, but was unable to get the tech guy to send me a new battery. Please help.

Inappropriate?Dell-Bill_B I am having the same problem. I have had so much problems with this laptop its unbelievable. I have even had a replacement M1330 sent out a year ago, and now to have the battery dieing after a year. I am considering buying a new desktop and with this problem I am seriously considering that Dell should not even be on my list. I work in the computer industry and was always a big promoter of Dell products until now. If you can fix this dilemma it may help with my prospective on Dell products. Service Tag: H34P4G1

Inappropriate?Dell-Bill_B, I have the same problem too. Bought M1330 on July 14 2008. Battery died on August 3, 2009. I called the customer service, they can't do anything since it is already out of warranty. I had two other dell laptop before, even after 4 to 5 years of usage, the batteries are still good. That's why I trust dell. But now I am really mad. Can you please help me to solve this problem? My service tag: 1WN2TG1. Thank you.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I'm having the same problem now. I cannot believe Dell, such a big company, will do something like this to consumers.
-
Inappropriate?I've Had my Dell M1330 for about 1 year and 4 -5 months i've realized that the battery port is extremely loose so that the cord isn't firm in there and that now my battery has reached a point that as soon as i unplug from the cord my laptop dies

Inappropriate?Dell-Bill_B, I have the same problem too. Bought M1330 on March 13 2008. Battery died on Feb 2009. I called the customer service, they told me to update the bios, it was a problem with my drivers, my battery need to be conditioned...etc. The troubleshooting extended into March 2009, Dell told me a week after March 13, my battery was out of warranty and i had to buy a new battery. Utter garbage in the way I've been treated. Should I have demanded a new battery and not gone through the troubleshooting with Dell Tech support prior to March 13? I currently have Dell notebooks where the batteries are still good after many years of use. This is a big problem receiving such BS from DELL? I also have a 3 year complete care on the notebook. Surely you do not treat all Dell customers this way. Please help!!!!!!!

Inappropriate?has anyboby that posted here actually got some kind of response from dell to address this issue? Who can we make formal complains to?
-
Inappropriate?Other than the first couple of guys, i think dell stop responding. Typical customer no-service again. We need to all file a formal complaint or even a class-action lawsuit...i'm out 160 bucks for a new battery as well

Inappropriate? My XPS is just under 2 years old and so far the battery and video card have failed. Also, the liquid display started leaking. I am never buying a Dell Product again. They have really sank to the bottom of the pond.
I’m pissed off

let me know when it goes through, I have the same problem -
Inappropriate?Hi there,
I have exacly the same problem, regarding my battery, it just stopped charging. I do understand usage of battery and its life time but it is so unconvienient it is totally flat and it does not charge. I had previously Sony Vaio wich was around 5-6 years old, I bought it well used and I never ever had such a problem and its battery life time was longer than 2 hrs when dell`s one did not even last an hour, If anyone can do anything please help, service tag - 2X0483J - mario_jar@yahoo.com
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?I bought a 9-cell off of ebay for $60, about a month ago and it seems to be working great. I think the company's name was membate. If you have to buy a new battery like I did I would definitely look in to buying one online from ebay then paying $180 from Dell. I also have the graphics card issue and just had to replace the motherboard (luckily I purchased the three year warranty). Then, had the guy come out and replace the CMOS battery because the "new motherboard" had a bad battery. I have had too many problems with this laptop and with spending over $1500 (I bought it right when dell released the laptop) you would think the quality would have match the bill. I am actually on my second one as Dell replaced the first one after replacing just about every part on my original m1330. If I have more trouble they should replace my laptop with a new model something that works longer than a couple of months.

Inappropriate?I've had so many issues with dell laptops the last few years. I had a 700M that had to be replaced with a M1220 then replaced with a M1330. Motherboard replacements two or three times in there. HDD replacement too. While I'm thankful the Dell warranty has covered most of my costs up till now, it's very frustrating to have to deal with such hardware and system replacements every few months. I've had my M1330 since March 2008. In October 2008, Dell replaced my motherboard, AC adaptor, and battery. Well, that battery only lasted a few months before it had a drastic cut in life. Sometimes it would work for an hour, sometimes only for like 5 minutes, then back to an hour or so. Now my computer won't even recognize my battery. just spoke to a supervisor at Dell who refused to replace my battery. Which is crazy. Clearly, Dell is selling substandard products if I've had to go through this many major hardware replacements over the last two or three years. I told the supervisor I would never buy anything from Dell again if he did not replace my battery, which only worked for months. I plan to stand by my word unless a Dell employee lurking here decides to help me. I'm so annoyed at both the faulty products and the awful customer service i've experienced this time around. I think it would behoove Dell to keep customers happy so they don't all go over to Apple!
And if no help is provided, I'm certainly not going to buy a battery from the Dell website!

Me again - I forgot that I had a 600M before that! And I've had these these four computers in a span of about 4 years. Awful. -
Inappropriate?My previous comment disappeared...
Anyway just to let you all know, I've been in touch with Dell's hotline about my battery issue and when I was complaining about the fact that you're expected to buy a new battery every 12 months. Do you know what he said?
YES, once every year. And quite after realising what he just admitted, he tried to change the subject and added that the few people to whom the failure happens are very few...
So basically, he means that all the people who posted bad reviews on Dell's official website (which I told him about):
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/pr...
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/pr...
are like 30 out of thousands and they are just unlucky.
So, I believe Dell is really pushing people to the edge and I will certainly NEVER by a Dell computer again. I've never experienced such poor quality and lack of honesty.
I’m furious!

Inappropriate? Thanks for the comment. Isn't it awful how they are acting about it!
Yeah, I've tried to give Dell the benefit of the doubt many times. But I've had quite a string of bad parts and systems. that's not chance. And they apparently don't stand by their products. They must be having a hard time competing, and making money. But as I said to the supervisor I spoke to on the phone, if they don't replace the battery I've had FOR LESS THAN A YEAR, they are going to lose thousands of dollars from me because I've had it from them. Last night, I told all mt Facebook friends (and there's a lot of them) to never buy a dell and that I won't buy anymore. Of course, if Dell reads this and decides to do something honorable, maybe I'll change my mind and retract my statement. Otherwise, to Apple I come! And I've known very few people who've switched back to PCs after going to Macs.
Maybe we should all report them to the Better Business Bureau. At least with non-tech stuff, I've found that usually works like a charm.

Inappropriate?I think you can just buy a new one ,I konw a good plcace, there are best laptop battery, http://laptopsbattery.us/dell-xps-m13...

Inappropriate? This is horrible I just called dell and since my warranty expired (3 years) last month They want to charge me 50 bucks to diagnose my not charging battery problem and if they need new parts they're gonna charge me for that too. My dell XPS M1330 has been to depot at least 12 times in the 3 years i've had it and I've had "dell techs" come and try to fix my comp at least 20 times. I'm really disappointed and look forward to a class action lawsuit against dell and their xps M1330 that I paid well over 2 grand for!
-
Inappropriate?I'm pissed too. My battery went out at 13 months and a new one is over a hundred dollars.
My next computer will certainly NOT be a DELL!
I’m Pissed

Inappropriate?A brand new battery(Dell Inspiron 1300 Battery 4400mAH) is only 62 pounds .
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Dell SUCKS.
My Account Manager's Manager said "No warranty on batteries, but I’ll get quotes (for replacement battery) at cost for you."
I’m pissed

Inappropriate? This is my 3rd Dell computer and was I was happy with my previous purchases. Nowadays, I've experienced so many problems with my XPS m1330, including external parts falling out, the graphics card burning(had to replace the motherboard), adapter can't be recognized, and this is the SECOND time I'm replacing my battery. SECOND TIME in 2 years. There should have been a recall for this product. I will NEVER buy dell ever again.

Inappropriate?I have got the same problem. After 4 months buying a xps m1330 i had to replace a new motherboard because of overheating. The blue screen issue drove me crazy at that time; i couldn't do anything.
And now, when everything seems to be up and running (my laptop is still hot), i get into trouble with the ac adapter. Sometimes it works well, but often complains that the ac adapter is not recognized, result in not charging.
For me, no more dell!
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate? It seems that your xps m1330 AC adapter is fried and you need a new one.
I think you should try to find out if your problem could be solved under the extended warranty on Dell’s XPS M1330 range. I know they extended it by 12 months but limited to problems related to NVIDIA cards. Presumably, overheating that killed your AC adapter can be related to the nvidia card problem.
I’m still looking for the official DELL stance on that. Just be warned that you need to know your facts before calling DELL support. Also, another reason for you to know about the extended warranty is that a dead AC adapter possibly can be not the last of your problems (a fried motherboard is). My AC adapter died a couple of months before the whole thing died.
Anyway, I’m still looking for someone who knows more than me about hardware to explain how failing AC adapters in the XPS M1330 are related to dying montherboards and NVIDIA cards.
Hope it helps in some way

Inappropriate?arghh dell why dell? i bought an extra battery when i bought my m1330 and now BOTH batteries are unusable. and of course my warranty's expired. not to mention my video card was replaced due to overheating. i think i overestimated dell. until now, i've been a dell fan. now i know better. LETS BOYCOTT DELL!
I’m silly
-
Inappropriate?Seriously this is a major problem I thought I was being clever by watching and being careful with my battery over the last year but a few weeks after the year warranty and the battery completely dies even though it was still holding a great charge. Way to degrade the batteries dell. I have had so much replaced on this computer already its embarrassing. I refuse to buy a new battery from dell.
-
Inappropriate?Yep, my XPS M1210 battery was working fine last night. This morning, shows "no battery detected". Pressing the button on the battery shows fully charged, but "no battery detected" from BIOS and Windows. I've had many other laptops, Acer, Sony, HP/Compaq, Gateway, and they all degrade within time by holding less charges, but this Dell battery held almost 2 hours night before to "no battery detected"!!! And yes, it's out of warranty. Something is fishy!
-
WOW guys its only $ 66.59! I'm gonna buy a new battery and I bet this will last longer than my last one, i say 4 months top! Woot!
*end of sarcastic remark* -
Inappropriate?HAHAHA! couldn't agree more. and guess what? its even cheaper from dell at $149.90!
thanks dell.
