Dell power adapter stops charging battery, very short life span.
This seems to be a common problem with Dell Laptops. I have an Inspiron 600M. Now on 3rd power adapter, is broken again. These are expensive and do not last.
I am ready for a class action lawsuit.
Any other companies adapters that will charge the laptop?

Inappropriate?you have to be very careful with the adapters, the wires have to be treated right. that's usually the problem.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?dell has made no admission to the adapter problems however I did find a cheaper replacement at priority electronics in California and also got a new extended life battery at less than half the cost.
My office has used Dell for 8 years however my next will be vision computers where you still have a person to talk to. -
Inappropriate?I agree, I have an Inspiron 1720 and it's less than a year old and Dell says they can do nothing for me!!!

Inappropriate?I have the same issue with my Dell laptop. I have to keep it plugged in now and it registers that I have no battery. (?) I haven't bought the replacement cord yet, but am using the one I have bandaged with duct tape. I have only had the laptop for 2 years.
I’m wanting this fixed!

Typically the batteries only last about 2 years you can extend their life if when charged remove them while using a/c power source according to what I HAVE READ. Also run only what you need when on battery power, one application at a time. I know it is time consuming and a pain but the less times you have to recharge the battery the longer it will last. I am going to try it and belive it to be true as it makes sense to me.

Inappropriate?I bought a used Insperion 9300, works well but the battey life began to shorten then the Dell a/c power unit failed, The seller gave me an new Generic one, un known to me it was not charging the cattery very well, the battery went full failuer. I bought a 9 cell from Batterydepot.com and the computer would not recognize it becaseu it's not a DELL, it also as I now noted does not recognize the a/c powerer source since it is not a dell so it will run on the a/c but will not charge the battery. I was told the solution was to upgrade bios to latest revision. I tried but the battery must be at 10% charge or greater. so I bought a used Dell and ran the new bios, it recognised the DELL battery but nit the generic on nor the a/c power source.
I relented bought qa Dell a/c Power source and Dell 9 cell battery at twice the price of the generics 155 vs 79 for battery 70 vs 36 for the a/c ac power source. I will let you all know how it pans out when I get it. I think it will be OK because I am trapped by dell and have no choice.
