Dell Power Management on the fritz.
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with Win Vista 32-bit, and the primary battery isn't charging. BIOS says that it's idle and that the AC adapter is unrecognized(it's a Dell power supply, 65W). I found a process called "compbatt" that allows for stopping but not pausing. I installed Dell's Power Management Utility, but it still isn't charging.

Inappropriate? It sounds like your ac adapter's ID chip is not communicating with the internal charger board. This can be due to a bent or missing data pin inside the barrel connecter on the end of the adapter. It could be the chip has just failed. Or it could be the charger board is bad, requiring a motherboard replacement. The first thing to do is try to find a known good Dell 65 or 90 watt adapter, and see what happens.
