Do I need to replace my battery on my Dell Inspiron 6000?

My battery in my Dell Inspiron 6000 no longer works do I need to replace it right away since I do not use it that often, will it hurt anything? I just do not have the money right now since I am going to retire in two months.

Inappropriate?Nah you dont really need to replace it unless you decide to use it without the ac adapter. But beware if the ac adapter comes loose your computer will shut off without a battery in it. -
