Help my M1330 is a Lemon Computer 2 times replacement of Motherboard, 3 times screen and now the screen is going blank again!!
Hi, I have a M1330 Dell technicians has replaced 2 times the motherboard, 3 times the screen with refurbished parts. Now the screen is going PLAIN white as the first time. I think this is a " Lemon" computer it has been wrong since the beginning. What can I DO? I need a working computer I do not want more refurbish parts that work for weeks and then go bad again. Please advice. I been trying to get emails form Dell executives there are not listed anymore and the Support guys in India keep telling me that they will fix it but the problem keeps returning. Thank you Rolando

Inappropriate? The Dell M1330 laptops with nvidia chips are failing left and right. There is a problem with the nVidia video chips themselves. I would replace the motherboard with a M1330 with Intel integrated video. You will not even be able to tell a difference between the two video cards unless you play video games.
Best place to buy parts from for Dell laptops is Parts-People.com I have been purchasing from them for years. Fast delivery and great parts.
They have the motherboard

Inappropriate? Please don't listen to that n00b nate. The xps system you have only has two types of GPUs. (Mobile Intel X3100 GMA &
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS) You have the intel if you don't game or paid an extra 500 bucks. Plus that nvidia chipset has no known issues (i use it myself). You need to test your computer on an external monitor (External = outside the system). If you have a vga (blue plug) monitor. Then hook it to your system while its on. And hit FN + F8. If you see something on the screen then your set. If you see the issue on the external then your mobo has the issue. If its on the lcd on the computer only , then its your lcd / lcd cable. RAWRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR shut up n00b
I’m silly

Inappropriate?Hi! I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR THIS! I too have the M1330 and have replaced the motherboard twice and screen twice and the adapter twice and the battery twice, etc... It goes on and on! I am so FED UP! I am on the phone with them constantly! I have had them send the documented hours of over 100 hours just since September! THIS IS NUTTS! The technician that came out even stated to me "Your computer must just be a lemon becuase I have NEVER seen the same person more than 2 much less 3 times in 6 wks"! That is just ONE of the technicians! I have had 4!!
WHAT I RECOMMEND IS A CONSUMER LEMON LAW ATTORNEY. I am in the legal industry. I am a marketing and public relations consultant for law firms and lucky for me I knew of a lemon law attorney here in california (www.lemoncarsrus.com). He is helping me through the NITEMARE! These ppl need to pay for the time and energy I have spent argueing with them!

Inappropriate?I also wanted to add that the on call ppl told me that the computer was still under warranty so no reason to replace the entrie computer when the parts were under warranty! SO they have NO INTENTION of helping me!
Also, my computer was hacked about 5 months ago and the thieves were able to steal money from me among other things. About 2 months ago the same type issues started again such as screen blinking, mouse moving by itself, uniknown files, weird settings, etc..so I called Dell and after several tests and downloading MORE anti-virus software (I have Norton 360 premium) I was told that NOTHING WAS WRONG! I KNOW FOR A FACT SOMETHING IS WRONG! And it still doesnt work properly so I have taken ALL MY CLIENTS ACCOUNT info off my computer as well as anything else that could be damaging such as court cases, etc because I am scared of the thieves. Delll said this is not possible but I actually had a friend of a friend tell me it WAS/IS POSSIBLE! He was once a hacker and now works for a big company doing security. He said once your computer has been compromised then nothing short of buying a new one will help! DELL says that a Factory Reinstallation will fix the problem but it just covers the problem up but does not get rid of the real problem.
So why even have the Facotry Reinstallation and System Restore??? These ppl are a joke! -
Inappropriate?Isn't it nice to know how the Dell Hell reps here use "selective hearing" on their customer problems....

As a purchase agent for clients across Canada, I have owned and operated 3 Dell XPS M Series laptops that have the defective NVidia chip MB.
All three of them failed within the warranty periods that I owned them. 2 of them failed 3 times in the warranty period and the third one failed
me twice. I was lucky~ only because I had the warranties. That being said, they replaced each of my defective NVidia chip MB with the SAME defective MB,
hence the multiple failures over the waranty period.
After these incidents, and in each case I spoke with supervisors (all of them having their heads up their @ss) they still to this date refuse to acknowledge
this problem as there fault and in all these types of cases, they make all customers run through the gauntlet before they will even consider a repair for your
laptop.
As I said, I was lucky, I had warranties on my units. For those of you that have laptops that are out of warranty that may possibly get a FREEBIE FIX, realize this:
This is NOT A FIX!!~they only replace your faulty Nvidia chip MB with the SAME defective MB. This is only a bandaid solution. IT will fail again - GUARANTEED!!
After these incidents, I recommended to my clients to no longer purchase any DELL units because of this fiasco and how they treat their customers.
Lucky for me, they continue to follow my recommendations.
DELL is HELL~ Just look at this forum as an example....when was the last time they even responded
to any of these complaints.... there are plenty of other forums that continue to voice the same concerns here.
I cancelled many $$$$$ orders with them and they know this. In my line of work I continue to keep all my clients informed of their shady past practice~
in fact, there is presently a pending class-action lawsuit against DELL here in Canada based on a similar situation involving their laptops that was approved
earlier this year. There are plenty of other laptops in the market that will outclass DELL.
Also, all of you should know that (in my line of work) I did find a relatively inexpensive FIX $250 cdn (outside of DELL, of course as they've stil got their head up their @ss) based out of
the westcoast in Canada. Cheaper than DELL and a reliable shop that has the proper equipment and knowledge to replace the NVidia chip on the MB (so long as the MB has not been damaged).
The problem lies with the original design - the way the NVidia chip has been soldered onto the MB.
Dont be fooled by DELLS offer of a freebie fix - it's only a bandaid that WILL unravel quickly.
I’m spreading the word of Dell Hell
