Inspiron 1520 Adapter Trouble =[

For the past month now I have been getting this problem where my system is not recognizing my Adapter. I have already reluctantly puchased a new Battery just a few weeks out of warranty because they would not replace it. Now, just a couple noths after, this problem is happening. After finding this site, I see that this is a very common problem.

When using my wifes charger, it works fine, so I called DELL to have this adapter replaced, and yes, they want me to purchase a new on. That's $75 more out of pocket for something that seems to be a product quality issue. I have been speaking with DELL as I have been a loyal DELL Customer for almost 10 years, and for some reason the quality seems to be deminishing. I do hope that this problem can be resolved as I would like to continue to see DELL in a positive light.

I have a DELL Inspiron 1520 9-cell 85WHR Battery, and do hope someone can help me get an AC adapter/power cord replaced possibly with a 90W charger to ensure better charging. If someone can please help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I'm afraid if you continue to see Dell in a positive light after reading all about their treatment of customers and poor quality products that fail just after warranty, both on here and the Internet in general, then you will be exercising self-delusion to an inexplicable extent. Your loyalty to Dell has only served to make them a big, powerful company that can afford to rip off customers as it is doing, forget about them after the warranty ends, and then prepare to deal with the fresh mugs. In brief, the loyalty isn't and won't be returned.

If your laptop is out of warranty, you'll be in the same position as me, with a defective laptop and no recourse. Dell have no interest as they keep reminding me my warranty has expired. I have no interest in warranties, only in equipment that is sold with stock faults, and made of poor quality parts not designed to last. I'm afraid you're most likely to have to buy a new adapter yourself, and inflate company profits some more. Oh, and then buy another maybe a year from now. Oh, and maybe a new one for your other laptop before long. Oh, and maybe new batteries and motherboards as they fail and you keep receiving messages like ac adapter cannot be determined and battery cannot be identified which can't be cured with new adapters or batteries.

Personally, I'd throw the Dells away as they fail and buy from someone else, anyone else, but not Dell ever again. Just think, you could have a laptop that runs perfectly from very cheap universal and compatible ac adapters, and that also runs from cheap compatible batteries. Imagine the freedom and money savings!

Amen. I my self had been long time Dell customer, my first laptop inspiron 8100 died one year after purchase won't power up just stopped. Dell wanted to sell me the extended warranty. Sad, But then I purchased a desktop, darn crappy thing. Third time is charm right. Bought the inspiron 1501, crappy ac adapter and battery. I had faith in Dell, but not anymore after everything I'm going through with the 1501 laptop. No sir, no more Dells, I'm done. I try chatting with tech support , even after I gave them the diagnostics code(Dell software) the tech still try to troubleshoot a software problem, Hello.Bad news, if youcall long wait times and then get bounce around like a beach ball. This time I pay for the extended warranty it hasn't made a difference my problem has not been resolved. Here I'm looking for a solution, cause Dell can care less.
